Do you guys think this game could be bigger in the esports scene than Starcraft 2?

The rts genre from what I understand "peaked" with Starcraft 2 especially in the multiplayer scene and most other newer rts aren't anywhere as close as popular as that one. For those that actually managed to play the game before its out, how would you compare it to Starcraft 2? Think it could be the next big esports game?

I think it has a better chance on esports when it's not being awkwardly forced onto the game (like blizzard tried with heroes of the storm.) Having the pro scene grow organically rather than trying to profit off it before it's properly set up is the proper move imo.

Yes, bigger than sc2. But, is it e-sports worthy? This doesn't have the big catch phrase known as Blizzard. E-sports goes where there is money and interest. If the grass-roots community for this game takes off like FGC has for fighting games, there is a chance. What RTS struggles on as an e-sport is that is isn't flashy and exciting enough for your average person. This is the main requirement for any e-sport.

Please for the love of god, dont let this game ever become esporty. As soon as that happens, game is full of sweattards and nobody plays for fun anymore then. Look at every other "esport" title. No fun at all

sc2 > any rts until sc3... u cant even compare this 25$ starcraft/warcraft wanna be to the original thing. just look at the angle from which this game is made, it looks so cheap, it gives me a headache, the esports scene will be dead, RTS is already a dead genre... sc2 is still popular because it is the best RTS and besides all this, STARCRAFT 1 has been around for almost 30 years ... everyone has played sc1, everyone knows about STARCRAFT, absolutely every gamer, while nobody knows about stormgate, it's cheap... I see this game as a cash grab, they used the fact that they are former Blizzard developers, blah blah give us your money blah blah... they should be sued for copyright.

By pure numbers yea probably but comparatively? That's a big ask out of any game, SC2 was THE esport progenitor really. The pie is bigger these days, but you're sharing with established juggernauts like counterstrike and league at this point and RTS as a genre has been dormant for years at this point.

sc3 will never happen lol and sc2 is dead game, time to turn this page and give a chance at the new RTS who will come this years

No. Although I'm waiting for playing this game, but seeing streams and videos, I hardly got an impression to be appealed to others. I don't think StormGate's visibility, or SFX, sound effects are way improved than of SC2. Rather inferior. No need to talk about factions or stories.

Frankly say, I couldn't understand Frost Giants studio's intention that they're preparing StormGate for e-sports league. I do think that, in order to discuss the e-sports league, StormGate must obtain enough users first. Not to count their chickens before they're hatched.

Having an explicit development goal of being "esports" has killed every game that's tried it. There's been a few.

Funnily enough, the main reason why I am looking forward to Stormgate is exactly because I don't care one bit about esports or pvp in general. But I am very interested in all other game modes. And since PvP is just one of their 4 'pillars' they want to focus on I am fine with 3 out of the 4 being exactly what I want. Especially the Coop mode, since except for SC2 literally no game has it. Though the cooperative campaign is also quite uncommon for an RTS and also something I very much enjoy.
