Which server is best to play on?
Should I go f2p and just do traditional? Or should I give it the best shot possible, and spend 15 bucks for Progression or Event? Should I play on Kaladim or Tarinax? I'm wanting to give this game the best chance possible, to draw me in, as I've always wanted to play it, but have heard bad and good things about it, now a days. I also want to try it, before the possible death of it, if it does die or not. So what you all think?

I would try one of the F2P servers first to see how you like it. It's free on the traditional servers. All my alts are on Maj'dul as I heard that has the most people who play F2P. Also heard Halls of fate is good. As far as I know, you can play up to level 95-100 completely free. So EQ2 is amazing like that because alot of MMOs only let you go up to level 20 usually free. EQ2 is a huge world so you get tons of content for free. I also mainly play F2P but have bought expansions in the past but the game is doable as only F2P. If you like the traditional F2P, you could always try the progression server and pay monthly. That may be a good option. If you like it, you could always stay F2P and buy expansions to play newer content. Some of the features you got to pay for but a lot is on the F2P side. If you decide to do F2P, I would suggest buying the mercenary option in the store so you can have a mercenary with you to do quests. I did that and I'm able to get through almost all of the new stuff at max level.

Also you have an option to make a level 100 heroic character to test a class and how you like it and you can also start at level 1. If you decide playing and need help I could help out in game if you go with F2P on Maj'dul. Have you played any other MMOs?

I've played plenty other MMOs, but I never had a chance to try and play this one or the first one, specifically. I've always heard good things about this game and the first in the past. And then the only times I heard or saw negative reviews, was after it turned F2P. But it seems people are saying that it isn't as bad now, as it was when it first hit f2p.

To continue this general topic, albeit with a slightly different slant, I've been playing the game for a couple of days now and am really enjoying it. It sort of reminds me of my first foray into vanilla WoW fresh out of FFXI (both of which I adored back in the day). That said, I have decided that I will likely be subbing after work this afternoon and was wondering whether sticking to the traditional server would be best or if moving to Free Trade or TLE would be recommended.

I am re-installing this game as I type this. I played this and EQ1 off and on since it came out. I love this game. There is SOOOOOO much to do. Tons of quests if you like questing (hence the name Ever Quest). Crafting system is more involved than WoW although you can only choose one primary type once you get to higher levels (like in Runes of Magic), there are collections to collect and turn in (a la Rift) but better, more types of turn-in rewards, from pieces of gear/jewelry to other collection pieces for even more collecting, coins etc. Collecting (and farming) mats for crafting. Raiding and dungeon crawling -- the game also have a voice chat system (like Bnet has) for communicating within a group channel or even guild channel. Guilds, yea nice guilds and even player/guild housing that you can own, enter and decorate. They also have a broker (AH) but you need to sub if you want to sell on it. You can buy off of it np. Oh yea, mounts and flying. A must have for any RPG.

Mercenaries really help as well, there are quite a few different race/class types some of them you can get from rewards you /claim while in game and choose which rewards to claim. It will tell you how many of that particular reward you have (once per char, once per acct). There is so much to the game, you will not be bored anytime soon I guarantee it. :) Have fun!
