First Sonic the Hedgehog game?

What was your first Sonic game? My first was actaully before I knew about the Sonic franchise. I unknowingly played Shadow the Hedgehog at my cousin's house. But my true introduction would be a year later at a diffrent cousin's house where I played the compliation game, "Sonic Mega Collection" on the Playstation 2. I'd like to know what yours was, and maybe a bit of history as well.

>Edit< From what I've read so far, most people started out with either Sonic 1 or Sonic 2 on various platforms. I do have vivid memories of Sonic 2 than anything else from when I played the Mega Collection.

Master system sonic 1. Spent a huge ammount of time on sonic 2 on megadrive though. Can still remember all the soundcheck codes off the top of my head and it was almost 20 years ago.

my first sonic game was sonic pocket adventure on the neogeo pocket, my dad owned it when he traveled around on band tours, he mostly played puzzle bobble and dark arms on it, while my mom played sonic sometimes.

I think we should get a port of that because it defined the Advance trilogy that came later, but I never owned a Neo Geo Pocket color so I didn't get a chance to play it.

MY first sonic game that I remember was Sonic Rush on the DS I never got very far in it, I think I was around 7-9 years old when I played. I only started replaying it recently. MY second sonic game was propaply Unleashed for the Wii I don't remember playing only that I had it for brief amount of time. My third sonic game was; oh god I barely remember I think it was Sonic 1 on an emulator but it technically was and wasn't sonic 1. Original Sega Genesis fat model when it came with Sonic 1. I was like 5 years old maybe.

Sonic 1 and 2 on my model 2 Genesis. To this day Sonic 3&K remains the only classic game where I've been able to get all the emeralds

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for my Genesis model 2 was my first when I was about 4 years old. Now, I own a model 1 and a model 2, and still have all my physical copies of these games.

my first was Sonic 2 on the gamegear, almost put me off Sonic forever lol!. If it wasnt for my friend having Sonic Chaos I would of gave up long ago.

My first sonic game was the sonic mega collection plus on ps2 when I was like 6 years old, so I don't recall the very first game I played on there but I going with Sonic 2 even though I played Sonic 3 and knuckles the most

Sonic Adventure DX's PC demo back in 2004. I suddenly became a fan of blue blur.

My first one was Sonic Advance. I consider it a true classic and the reason why we don't really need classic throwbacks to enjoy classic gameplay.

I've been waiting over 25 years for a game like the Genesis Sonic games, Advance didn't come close enough. This is the Sonic game I've been waiting for, after all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage, I can return to the era of good Sonic games 1,2,3,K, and now M. However, now if the game glitches, I have to adjust settings or wait for a patch, sure miss blowing into those cartridges!
