First Sonic the Hedgehog game?

What was your first Sonic game? My first was actaully before I knew about the Sonic franchise. I unknowingly played Shadow the Hedgehog at my cousin's house. But my true introduction would be a year later at a diffrent cousin's house where I played the compliation game, "Sonic Mega Collection" on the Playstation 2. I'd like to know what yours was, and maybe a bit of history as well.

>Edit< From what I've read so far, most people started out with either Sonic 1 or Sonic 2 on various platforms. I do have vivid memories of Sonic 2 than anything else from when I played the Mega Collection.

My first Sonic game was actually Sonic 1 for Mega Drive when I was 5 years old.

I think my first one was somic unleashed on the wii. I may have played sonic 1 on an emulator before but i cant have been that long.

This is for PS2,I think that have it for xbox 360 too.to complete the sonic games there is another, Sonic Gems Collection (Sonic CD,Sonic R,Sonic the fighters and others games from sega game gear).there was games from sega game gear on the Sonic mega collection too and there is extra games from sega genesis/mega drive on both Sonic Gems collection and Sonic mega collection plus.

Sad story. I had Sonic Rush Adventure as one of my earliest DS games and I threw it away out of rage :l
At least I got to finish Sonic Rush, though.

Mine as I'd said before, was Sonic R PC in primary school during golden time. I've now got my own copy, but after getting it to launch, I need a way for the game to detect my keyboard input, otherwise I can't make it past the first menu before the credit screens and title.

My first 2D Sonic games were both Sonic Pinball Party and Sonic Advance 3, and my first core game was Sonic Adventure 2 on my brother's Gamecube.
