Christian Whitehead's Sonic 1 and 2 for PC
Yo! Just curious, has the mobile ports of Sonic 1 and 2 ever been ported to PC? If not, are there any plans in like the community to port it to the PC? Even if it's a "mod" like Sonic 3 A.I.R. that requires the game on Steam, I'm okay with that. IMO, the mobile ports are a definitive way to play Sonic 1 and 2.

Darn, I hope that changes soon, it's such a great version that deserves to be on PC like Sonic CD. Thanks anyway!

Yet Sonic CD got ported to Steam as well as PSN and 360, why not Sonic 1 and 2 as well?

Those came later. I guess Sega wasn't interested.

Maybe they will for the 30th anniversary since this port was released in 2011 for the 20th anniversary. Hopefully that's the case.

I thought the reason we got Sonic CD's Christian port was because they lost the documentation to the Mega CD and how to handle or port its code or something.

The original Sega CD version suffered from this.note It was going to be included with Sonic Mega Collection, but it was cut because Sega didn't have documentation on the Sega CD. It was eventually included in Sonic Gems Collection, ported from the PC version. Eventually, Sega hired Christian "The Taxman" Whitehead to recode the game from scratch for the 2011 remake

Since the Mega Drive ports of Sonic 1 & 2 could and had been ported before, it made sense to use them instead. That said, I like the Christian ports better, especially as Sonic 2 has Hidden Palace Zone (still missing Genocide City sadly) with an AOSTH reference as the boss background. Not to mention the Steam version of Sonic 2 MD glitches out the ending music when it cuts to Sonic re-entering the atmosphere, making it slow down and go way out of sync.

I play 1 and 2 on Bluestacks. Way better than the Steam versions, currently

It is speculated that since they are already included in the Steam "Sega Mega Drive Classics" collection, Sega doesn't see the point. The reasons that it is on phones is because the phone ports of Sonic 1 and 2 were garbage before Taxman's version came out.

Sega pretends to be a fan-friendly company, but just because it has cool PR people like Aaron Webber who frequently interacts with the community, it really isnt.

I actually hate it all being bundled in the SEGA Mega Drive Classics.
Really want the enhanced Sonics 1 and 2 stand-alone in my Sonic category. D:

The emulation on the MD Classics isnt even good. KEGA Fusion's emulation is superior.

It annoys me that we never got the mobile ports of 1 and 2, it seems such a bizarre decision to leave what is the definitive versions of sonic 1 and 2 tied to mobile only, I don't know about anyone else but I absolutely hate playing them with touchscreen controls.
At least its easy to emulate android on pc I guess.

Are there even any mods for 1 and 2 that give them 60fps like Sonic 3 has A.I.R?
The special stages in sonic 2 on mobile are so good going back to the old low framerate versions is painful.

Fans: Complain about how the excellent mobile ports of Sonic 1 and 2 aren't on PC or any other platform

SEGA: Do you guys not have phones?

Some of us might want it on something that doesn't use a small screen.
I personally want it in my Steam library alongside my other Sonic games, and on PC so I can file away completed save files like I do with other games.
