Can you set up a game to avoid time travel?

I keep hiting these damn time travel points by accident .

Just want to play the game in linear way :(

That's part of the game. A MAJOR part of the game. You can't avoid time travel. If you wanted a more linear game, you should've gotten one of the other classic Sonic games. Sorry. :/

There are no time travel signs in Time Attack mode.

If you hit the past/future posts by accident just don't speed up or you'll end up warping. But like the others said, they're part of the game & getting every time stone gets you the best ending.

The thrid acts only take place in the future; which one depends on your actions in the other two, be it going into the past to smash the mech teleporters, or getting all the time stones.

You can try and avoid the signposts in the main levels if you so desire. You need to trigger the warp ready effect and stop moving once the sign icon begins to flash to prevent yourself time travalling.
