As far as i know there is no penalty for washing other ores.
That's essentially how I worded it, only people are I guess using the sorter instead of the trommel?
I use the sorter to split the rock and dirt/paydirt, rock gets sent off to crushers>fractioner>trommel etc, while the dirt is sent off to the washplant. After washing, the plant sends out dirt, plus the ores which is sent through a regular trommel that splits out the high grade ore while the dirt is split off for waste.
