Shop Unavailable
I just recently got AGOD, and whenever I try to enter the in-game shop, it says it's unavailable. I'm aware that this seems to be supposed to happen if the Steam overlay is turned off, but mine is on and working.

I just checked and the store is definitely up and running.

The Steam Community needs to be turned on in two places.

1) In the “Steam” menu – then “Settings” – then “In-Game” tab. Make sure the “Enable Steam Community In-Game” is checked.

2) On the game itself. Right click on “A Game of Dwarves”. “Properties” – “General” tab. Make sure the “Enable Steam Community In-Game” is checked.

If both are not checked – the in game store will not work.
Also restart the game after that.

Thanks for the reply.

I had already checked that both options were turned on, and ran the game after it. Still no shop.

Incidentally, I tried turning off the Windows Firewall just in case the game was being blocked, but it didn't help either. Oh well.

have you tried the "verify integrity of game cashe"?
Or to uninstall / reinstall the game. Maybe you are not on the latest version or yours become corrupted somehow.

Okay, I went ahead and verified the game files, and dscovered something weird: there's always a single file that fails the check and has to be reacquired, exactly 544 bytes, and no matter when I run the verification, that file always fails. Even if I just verified them or installed the game!

Incidentally, I tried reinstalling, and no dice. But at least I have a lead now, I'll try to look for that mystery failing file. Thanks.

But the game seems to play fine otherwise except for the shop?

At least we are getting somewhere. . . . maybe.
;)

Yeah, the game plays fine fortunately, the only problem is the shop.

But there doesn't seem to be any 544 byte file on AGOD's installation directory, strangely. Guess this is a case for Paradox's or Steam's tech support.

Many thanks for the help, by the way.

Having the same problem , no store , 544b file will not validate , anyone figure this out yet!!!

Well, it's been a long time since I saw this thread.

It turned out the problem was that the in-game store wasn't configured to accept the currency the funds my Steam wallet were in. The developers were kind enough to let the store accept my currency, so it became avalable to me, and to everyone else that uses the same currency I suppose.

So I'm guessing you're having the same problem: the store doesn't accept your currency. Try contacting the devs directly and they may help.

I'm in Canada, and steam recently changed their setup so I get Canadian content I'll ask the developers . I have a ticket in process.
Thanks for saying something on such an old thread . I've been ignored every where else .
Steam Rocks And So Do The Customers!!!!!!! that's what makes it awesome.

Oh yeah, I've heard that now Canada pays in Canadian rather than American dollars on Steam. I'm guessing that's exactly what caused the store problem, as the devs need to tweak their end to accept Canadian dollars now.

Just a heads up. You mentioned you have a ticket in progress, which I'm guessing is for Steam support? Because you should be contacting the game developers or publishers instead.

Good luck!

Nope ticket is for paradox, but they are a little slow to get back to me .
