Long story short, you do not take damage while lagging. You only take damage when your game and the server are communicating the hits in sync. The same is true for your shots hitting enemies.

In this case, just disconnect. You never know if you're actually safe while lagging as enemies (and bullets) are still free to move around meaning you may still be accumulating future damage without realizing it. If you cut out soon enough you will likely be still alive (though even that's no guarantee) no loot is worth staying in and risking death (assuming maxed characters that is)
