You might want to try and buy it by starting RoTMG outside of Steam (not sure if you can access the account you use through Steam that way?).
I know people were reporting problems a couple weeks ago like this, but I thought they were resolved.
Sorry I couldn't be more help. Maybe someone who's more of a veteran knows more.
[EDIT] Actually, I'm not even sure if the account linking works anymore. Per InsaneFirebat on a different topic:
"Unfortunately, account linking was disabled in the 19.1 Update.[community.kabam.com]"
Unfortunately, if you miss the window, the pack is never available again. That $60 value is what it would cost you to buy everything individually.
And actually, it's an even better deal to buy 2 extra character slots before you buy the Beginner's Pack. Only the first 2 are discounted if you buy them individually, but the Beginner's Pack price is the same no matter how many slots you have already.
Yeah, I realized that after the fact, but there probably aren't too many people who go that route, even if they realize it's a way to save.
As you say, with only seven days you'd need to decide that you're dedicated enough to the game to need five character slots and spend at LEAST $30 - $10 to buy separate gold to afford the first two discounted character slots, and then an additional $20 for the Beginner's Pack (which can't be purchased with Gold since it's actually a purchase OF Gold with extras).
Another reason I wish there were permanent "sale packages" that could be purchased as Steam DLC offers. But that would get rid of the extra revenue they get through impulse purchases - a player has all of their character slots with Level 20 characters with decent amounts of fame, decide they HAVE to play a new character that day, so throw 1,000 Gold at the problem instead of waiting for a sale.
