Why you should trust me:
Hours of gameplay
Vault full of life pots.
Because google it.
Unmaxed daggers / melee / ninjas don't have enough defence / health to be that close.
Another good one is Knight because you can stun and are not as squishy as a wizard.
My personal pick is warrior and that's because I've gotten good at playing as a melee, just don't give me some LOD dungeon bu115h!t where there's projectile ♥♥♥♥ vomit all over the screen.
If you answer YES, go to next question. IF you answer NO use the class below that questions:
1. Do you have a pet with heal?
Priest
2. Do you prefer farming dungeons more than godlands?
Archer
3. Do you have a pet that is at least Uncommon (30+, 1+, 0) with HP and MP heal?
Paladin or Knight, PURELY player choice they are even
4. Do you like farming godlands more than dungeons?
Wizard (But you said archer before?!, you say. Yea but your pet is better now so you can use lighter armor)
5. Is your pet at least 50+, 50+, 0 ?
Assasin
6. Is your internet good? And are YOU good?
Rogue
Good luck everybody.

Priest can start doing Abysses from Level 20, unpotted. All you need is a T8 Wand, T8-9 Robe and T4 Tome (You could do it with lesser equips, but it'll be more difficult), provided you have some skill, since Abyss can kill you fairly easily.
Although Priest's DPS is the lowest in the game, he has a saving grace coming into Abyss - his wand pierces. Since enemies in Abyss come in swathes and hordes, it's easy to line them up (while retreating) and shoot, which will effectively multiply your DPS by the amount of targets hit.
This is by far my favorite way to "gain fortune", since Abyss drops DEF+VIT (if you solo, which I strongly recommend). Although it will take time at the beginning (when unpotted), once you max DEF (about 5-6'ish hours of work), try to get your DEX maxed. 2/6 (DEF+DEX) Priest is a Abyss clearing machine (in my opinion, at least). Although it still will take you about 5 minutes of clearing, you will do so *reliably*, which is why I recommend it.
Obviously, the heal let's him keep going. Especially useful if you don't have a pet, as Styx noted. Definately a great beginner class for getting a foothold in RotMG.
