Can you aim trickster Prism decoy?

I have basically never touched trickster but is the prism decoy location random? I know that you teleport to your cursor but I can't find any logic as to where the decoys land? Is there some sort of method to determine where it ends up?

It's based on the direction you're moving when you cast the spell, but I've found you need to be moving in that direction for a good half second or so for it to work consistently. It runs in random directions if you're standing still.
