[SOLVED] Once again: Animations 30 fps?
So the game runs flawlessly in 60 fps, but you only notice the 60 fps while moving the camera around. All attacks and animations seems to be at a lower frame rate, and it really sticks out.
Team 17, is this just the way of the game?

Many thanks!

This is the primary reason my circle of friends don't play the game. It is blatantly running at 60fps when you move the camera or even just look at the movement of the water, but the animations are 30fps and it feels absolutely horrendous. I would love to play this game but I don't think this will ever be sorted

Concerned about animations in a strategy arena game... *facepalm*
Although it's annoying, you can tell you didn't really want it to begin with.

Actually since owning worms on the amiga i am an avid fan, for you to make a blanket statement in reply to luckz i think says much about your opinion.

I first played Worms 1 (non-AMIGA though) when I was in primary school. I remember some words that made nice levels!
I do however fear that most of the recent ones had big drawbacks that made them meh for me. I bought one or two of the Xbox 360 titles and they were lacking super obvious party game features like playing with multiple online and local players together.

So, while I'd sure love to buy this if it was a good game, this forum (network disconnect thread, this thread, others) show me that it's plagued by developer laziness. If I had had good reasons to believe it could be as good as the first titles, I surely would have preordered. As it is, it still seems better to play Armageddon with third party patches as anything post-World Party merely ranges between mediocre and tolerable. :gflower::offspring:

I could probably live with either a broken animations system or broken networking, but the sum of those are already a little much to bear, and that's assuming the game has no other bugs, oversights, etc.

I thought it wouldn't be a big deal either, but it looks really bad.

I agree. I think the problem is exacerbated by the camera moving around so smoothly and the water flowing so smoothly too. It just highlights how rough the animations look at 30fps

No, it's not the way of the game. It's a problem that seems to crop up with certain specs of PC. Think it might just be nVidia card users that get it, and it's not limited to low-end specs.

Runs nice and smooth for me on an ATI HD6850. You might wanna try emailing support@team17.com

If it was a hardware problem, the whole game would run at 30fps not just the animations. I have played it on both ATI on my old PC and Nvidia on my new PC too so that doesn't hold any water

Just to try and balance things out here: I too have played since the Amiga days, and I am having more fun with Revolution and Reloaded than any of the other versions, and I've played almost all of them on every platform.

This game is just fun for me. I appreciate that you don't want to play it because it doesn't run at 60fps....but really, that's your loss. You're the one missing out, although clearly you feel you've saved yourself some grief by avoiding it.

Details like this annoy me to no end, so they've missed out on a purchase here as well. If a game doesn't look or act like I think it should, it's just difficult to enjoy it. I cannot stand choppy animations that run at a lower frame rate than everything else.

So animations are made so bad? That's why it feels so laggy? That's just sadest thing ever in Worms series

Lag and low framerate are two totally different things. The animations on the worms looks choppy and not smooth because they only run at 30 frames per second. Consider some of us regularly game on 120hz screens that can display 120 frames per second. The game looks very very odd having the background rendered at a smooth 60 or 120 frames per second, but then the worms are animated at only 30 frames per second. Has nothing to do with input lag just framerate and smoothness.

Just played the game for the first time since I bought it and I am very upset that this is how the game runs. I don't remember what I paid for it but i.m.o it is a 100% loss on my side. If I wanted games to run at 30fps I would have bought it on inferior platforms. Disabling the vsync also did nothing.
