Why is there no option for AI to replace the second player if you're playing solo?
If I understand correctly, Split Fiction is literally unplayable unless you have someone to play with. What I don't understand is why. There are other games that are also designed for co-op but still let you play on your own and have a bot stand in for player 2.
I know there's an option to find people online to play with, but this doesn't look like the type of game that would be fun to play with a random stranger.

It's a shame, because it looks really cool and I would have loved to play it, but I don't have anyone to play with, so f**k me, I guess. I will not be buying this game, even though it looks great.

It's the way the developers have made all their games, A Way Out, It Takes Two. You understandly chose to leave a discussion post about a game made by developers who make co-op their main feature.

this is developer's intent and the developer's previous games also prevents you from playing alone. so yeah this game is not for you

Why? It's simple: this game shouldn't be played alone. If you don't have someone to play with, just skip it.

I just think they're giving up on potential buyers for no reason. The game could be exactly the way it is, but with a simple feature that allows a bot to take over for the missing second player, just like many other games that are also intended to be played by two. It wouldn't change the essence of the game or compromise the developer's vision, but it would allow more people to enjoy the game and make it more profitable. It makes no sense why they don't do it.

It Takes Two sold 20 million units. That's absolutely phenomenal for a non-franchise IP. Their approach didn't stop them from incredible financial success before, so why would it stop them now?

That's the thing, I don't think the game would be exactly the way it is. A lot is riding on that there are two people who are collaborating together, explaining, laughing, screaming and controller swaps included. Removing all that from this game would change it quite a lot.
coop-game....peopel cry about single palyer, single player game, peopel cry about no coop. it never ends. go pay a modder to add ai bot

it's a targeted market (meaning they know who will buy their games and the ones that are not buying) . also if you buy the game you will get another free pass. that you can share with another player who doesn't own the game. so basically you're getting two copies at a price of one game. it worked for them for their previous games so it clearly working for them now big time.

Well the game let's the second person to play for free, so make a thread or find one where people are looking to play together or where people that don't have the game wants to play it

I bought It takes 2 and invited quite a few friends to play through it with me, I've finished it 5 times with 3 different people and I played it quite a bit with other friends but that I never finished it with, I was the only one that payed for it (eventhough one of them did buy it so he could play it with his wife instead =)
