Split Fiction is the absolute peak of Hazelight. They went all in, completely all in.

Not only do I find it beautiful because of its gameplay, the references, the story, the jokes, and the characters. I love how it feels to play. It’s super fun. I love recognizing where each world comes from. I love figuring out which references are from games and movies. I love the characters’ story, especially in the final acts, when everything connects.

The bosses, no matter how difficult they are, are fun. The collectible Easter eggs are also very enjoyable. The subplots are really funny, and yeah, Hazelight doing their thing and making GOTY level games as always. It’s such a shame that in 2025 this game didn’t win GOTY. A real shame, it deserved it.
