When did Women = Woke? This is just a good game, Can't everyone be happy?

This studio built up a good history and makes good games. People are excited to play because of the studio and the concept. Having a female lead has never stopped a game from being popular, being a bad game has. Having a female lead didn't work against Horizon, Stellar Blade, Baldur's Gate 3, Tomb Raider series, FF13, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Nier, Metroid, Bayonetta, Fire Emblem, etc.

Many female lead games, the "woke" crowd tried to cancel. They even tried to cancel A Way Out because it was "too macho" and had no female player characters.

I'm actually surprised that this game hasn't been targeted by the cancel crowd. Mio is a thick, dark haired, brown skinned (probably Hispanic), city dwelling, curvy lady who is broken and has daddy issues and her whole motivation is based on the well-being of a man (her father). Zoe is a white, feminine, family oriented, dreamer who is more emotionally complete and is emotionally supportive even when subjected to Mio's abuse.

The elegant Zoe turns into a Fairy and a Tree that makes her mother nature which allows her to control the world around them and gives her the power to help Mio if Zoe chooses. Zoe gets a whip that she can use to hit Mio if she wants.

The crass Mio turns into a otter-fish-thing and a monkey. The monkey can dance because of course it can. Mio solves her issues by stealing cars and shooting or stabbing her way through in her stories. Mio is also very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and mean/abusive to Zoe initially. But with Zoe's soft nature and guiding hand, she becomes less awful.

I used to agree some companies would be too "woke" but the meaning has lost it's use. It's used too freely. Like when anything other than a straight white male is on screen, it's woke.

I totally agree that some companies go too far. It has to make sense and not be forced or it comes off lame and boring.

It's not "woke" nor considered woke, it's gaslighting that was once used by game journalists, they were thoroughly made fun on social media for such articles because it was not a thing, but rather a thing that a "woke" journalist thought about "anti woke" people that was blatantly incorrect and backwards. No. It was always a valid complaint. Especially games that forced these into the game. Race Swapping, Gender Swapping, Strong female characters with no character arcs.

Now Most Gamers are too distrustful of any game with either a female of color main lead nowadays as they do not trust the developers intentions unless the game was made by an Asian Developer.

It will take time before Gamers learn to Trust Games from the West again.

Since never, nobody is calling this game woke, some people might be cautious, considering the recent history of western studios, but this game looks fine.

There are also the woke extremists pretending to be normal people asking these questions too, that happens all the time, it's almost as if they'd draw swastikas during election days (and copy this behavior in other countries too, like Brazil). But we know they'd never do things like that.

Game wouldn't hit almost 200k peak if the game was woke, I wouldn't be surprised if some people try to muddie the waters, with fake reviews or rage bate articles.
