When did Women = Woke? This is just a good game, Can't everyone be happy?

This studio built up a good history and makes good games. People are excited to play because of the studio and the concept. Having a female lead has never stopped a game from being popular, being a bad game has. Having a female lead didn't work against Horizon, Stellar Blade, Baldur's Gate 3, Tomb Raider series, FF13, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Nier, Metroid, Bayonetta, Fire Emblem, etc.

Many female lead games, the "woke" crowd tried to cancel. They even tried to cancel A Way Out because it was "too macho" and had no female player characters.

I'm actually surprised that this game hasn't been targeted by the cancel crowd. Mio is a thick, dark haired, brown skinned (probably Hispanic), city dwelling, curvy lady who is broken and has daddy issues and her whole motivation is based on the well-being of a man (her father). Zoe is a white, feminine, family oriented, dreamer who is more emotionally complete and is emotionally supportive even when subjected to Mio's abuse.

The elegant Zoe turns into a Fairy and a Tree that makes her mother nature which allows her to control the world around them and gives her the power to help Mio if Zoe chooses. Zoe gets a whip that she can use to hit Mio if she wants.

The crass Mio turns into a otter-fish-thing and a monkey. The monkey can dance because of course it can. Mio solves her issues by stealing cars and shooting or stabbing her way through in her stories. Mio is also very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and mean/abusive to Zoe initially. But with Zoe's soft nature and guiding hand, she becomes less awful.

I don't know how late you are but the whole "anti-woke" thing has always been on an attack the LGBT, women, and racial minority groups. It's never been a valid critique. It's just been a means of being openly bigoted toward groups they do not like.

It's funny you mention Tomb Raider too (I also did, yes). First people wanted to cancel it because even if the game was good, she was too sexy/over sexualized and it was seen as sexist. Why take her shorts away? She can't be a bad ass and be sexy? but you rite. people are wild these days.

It's funny you mention Tomb Raider too (I also did, yes). First people wanted to cancel it because even if the game was good, she was too sexy/over sexualized and it was seen as sexist. Why take her shorts away? She can't be a bad ass and be sexy? but you rite. people are wild these days.

To be fair Lara using shorts while trying to surviving in the island would look pretty ridiculous due to the more realistic approach.

Also, she still got her sweet bewbs, so not like they really changed her that much.

I don't think that is necessarily true. From the research I have done and from what I have seen, the issue is either bad game design or spoon feeding of real life social politics in a one sided, heavy handed way is what causes discord. BG3 for example, you could be gay, straight, good, or evil. The choice was yours and no one cared in a negative way and the game was good and successful. There was even Nocture who was trans but not a peep of heat came from the anti-woke crowd about that. Last of Us also definitely heavily hinted at Ellie being gay for her dead friend. The game didn't was it was right or wrong, they just had it in there as part of natural character development and a realistic scenario under realistic circumstances (but ZomBiEz lmao). The woman aspect definitely isn't true in the slightest. Even Cyberpunk 2077, though that game fell through because it was undercooked on release. The most common parts selected together were boobs and pp lol. And after the updates, the game was great. There are many other examples I can cite in games like Guilty Gear, Gran Blue Fantasy, Apex, Undertale, Guild Wars 2, Xenoblade 3, and even in Pokemon. But i digress

Maybe, but as many times as I've seen real life women walking around in shorts in temperatures from 50F-18F, Laura could just as easily use it as a +1 to being a badass. They could have a disparaging comment and it would be fine. They could throw in a random NPC male that works with her and ask if she is going to go out is that and just brush it off with a small comment like "What? You afraid of a little cold?" "As long as I've been doing this, you can't let a little bite bother you, the cold, bugs, or anything else." The point is that it would be in character and people would not mind at all.

Not same situation cause you never saw a woman fighting for her life on a island in the middle of nowhere and killing people while walking on a forest.

Seriously, using shorts when going through a forest is pure nonsense, only dumb people who don't know what they're doing would to that.

Also, only reason Lara even used shorts was for nothing but fanservice cause the original psx games were never exactly focused on plot, it was mostly cheap fanservice and puzzles, Lara having shorts in the reboot would be plain stupid and unrealistic as ♥♥♥♥, no matter how much you twist yourself into a pretzel to try to justify it, you're just being a clear gooner.

I played plenty of female MC and those were good games, but i will stay away from propaganda games. Is this game funded by DEI? I dont know, i dont really care to do deep research into whats woke and what isnt.

Buddy, I hate to break it to you, but we're a part of the same ecosystem here. Your usage of woke, far-left and DEI are also buzzwords in and of themselves.
