the dialogue of this game is just...wow...
Don't get me wrong : I haven’t, nor do I plan to, pay full price for this game. in fact , it looks like a good candidate for a Humble Bundle choice in a couple of months, but I digress.

I watched the whole game on YouTube because some of the cutscenes dialogue was really off, and yes, the writing is just as bad as most "modern game writing" tends to be.

and there wasn't a single one that wasn’t cliché or using slang that hasn’t been used in almost 20 years ("Yo, that was epic," "Sick moves").

SPOILER maybe? The whole story boils down to "white people/big corporations are screwing over the little guys," and they try to do the "if we point out this is a cliché, it's not a cliché" cliché.

The whole thing reads like an allegory for AI, yet at the same time, it feels like it was written by AI. And it's lowkey hypocritical, they complain about how AI mixing and matching others' stories is stealing and morally wrong, but constantly referencing video games is just "an homage." totally not lazy nostalgia-baiting.

It doesn’t help that the voice actors are also very mediocre and, at times JUST TERRIBLE

Good then? This thread is about the dialogue? Every other thread is about either being woke or garbage or whatever. I'm just complaining about the lack of good writers in the industry lately.

Is it because all the good (woke?) woke up and left, or the good ones left, and the woke remained?
So the game is balls then. Thanks for the info.
