SBI Involved?
I want to buy this game and support Hazelight, but do not want to give my money to the "narrative crafting" consultancy parasites. This is not at all about female leads and story, I do not mind anything about that, if it is the genuine creator's vision.

So the big question is, was a DEI consultant such as Sweetbaby involved?

legitimate question, i am the same here.Personally i think that the developer is one of the best videogame creators we ever had the pleasure to have, a way out is a great game as a game and as a "movie", the gameplay is amazing and the video direction is better than many movies i have seen ( the hospital scene is amazing) . it takes two is just some of the best pieces of entertainment ever created not just as a game but as art itself.

so when a new game was announced , yeah very excited and first day buy even after all deceptions that AAA brings this days , everyone remembers cyberpunk. although you can notice some red flags with this tittle, hope that all are just that, red flags.lets hope for the best and the game does not have DEI nonsense but wait for reviews from true gamers and avoid the "profesional journalist" reviews.

and very important , take legitimate opinions you may agree or not and avoid the trolls, i have the feeling that your question will bring many of them

OP, surely there are more important things in your life going on that you should focus on instead of whether an aid studio assisted Hazelight because someone told you you should hate them.
The two girls in the game are based on the lead developer’s daughters. They even got their names, so I don’t think so. Joseph is a developer with a soul mate

as supportive you are of SBI, they have nothing creative to bring to the table and only ruin the gaming industry so the question is legitimate,

from how their last game went, they dont need any consultants to create a great story, "It Takes Two" was a masterpiece on its own.

but damn people who defend SBI instead of giving a genuine response seem very touchy and probably for a reason * wink wink*

Not for me, both voice actresses sound awful.

I am not crying, I simply do not want to support them. Stop projecting. Feel free to buy everything where they are involved, I do not have any right nor wish to stop you, nor am I gonna criticize you for doing so.

There are and I definitely am focusing on those. I just want to be sure what am I spending my earned money on, I believe that concept is not that hard to grasp. Pretty sure devs were able to do a fantastic job in storytelling without external consultants in the past, hence my disregard towards SBI and their likes, as I see them redundant and forced in the field and do not want to support them with my money. No need to worry, I really do not need anyone to tell me what to like and hate.

Yawn, can't wait for endless topics about it.

Valve (the owners of Steam) are partnered with SBI.

You’re complaining about SBI on a platform owned by a company that openly supports them.

Every time you buy something on Steam, you’re supporting SBI.

Best bet is to completely deactivate your Steam account and never support the platform again.

I don't know what you mean by supportive. I have an inkling, but the truth is I just don't care. They're a consulting firm and development aid studio. Literally the most inoffensive thing ever. If you feel like they're "ruining the industry" that tells me you're not someone who cares or even knows anything about this industry. What's ruining this industry is crunch culture, devs not being given enough time to make games, releasing games unfinished with a "we'll fix it later" mentality, egregious micro transactions, gambling disguised as game mechanics, and mass industry layoffs that punish the hardworking men and women in the industry as opposed to the investors/billionaire CEOs that make these decisions that ultimately doom the games they want to profit from.

Soon find out, if it fails miserably with the same old whiney nonsense like failhard and the rest had, on the upside it'll be cheap as hell soon if they went that route. Hope not tho.

Personally I don't think they're particularly good writers probably and I like my stories to be more individualistic than made by committee or something.

On the other hand I'm not buying this for the plot anyway. I absolutely DO buy games for the plot (loved 1000xResist) but this isn't one of them.

And even if I was I'd judge the plot by the plot

They don't even write stories to my knowledge. They just help soften up language that can be considered offensive or triggering which, honestly, kinda whatever imo. Like yeah, I personally do have a problem with how games tend to have no edge anymore. They're all sanded down to appeal to as broad of an audience as possible and I find it quite patronizing when every character is bubbly, happy go lucky care free and you're the best champ even if you lose you're still great! But it's the least of the issues with the industry at the moment. Yet I see no amount of energy for the real issues. It's just hateful people being hateful.

Exactly. Honestly I mainly just keep clear what I expect from a game.

I was playing Everspace 2 and my character literally said "That just happened".

My response was to roll my eyes and get back to having a fun time blowing up space pirates because I wasn't expecting much from the plot anyway.

Some games do have great writing (seriously 1000xResist), but they've always been rare and most games have other goals that really make great writing impossible.

Split Fiction appears to know we aren't here for the plot - just look at any trailers. I like a game with a clear goal.

I'll need to check out 1000xRESIST at some point then. I never heard of it until now.

As for Split Fiction, I feel like it's going to have some good writing and a decent plot to tie it all together. A Way Out was a nice subversion of expectation with its twist ending turned a cooperative experience into a 1v1 death match to conclude its story. It Takes Two used the childlike whimsy and imagination of the little girl to put a mother and father in failing marriage through trials to overcome as a means of mending a broken relationship. It also explored how divorce can seriously affect a child's mental wellbeing.
