(even more info) everything u need to know about the game
hi
i gathered some info for u

-this game doesn't support single player, just like the 2 other games from the same developer, it requires 2 players to play

-if u r looking for someone to play with u, there is an official discord server for Hazelight games that include "looking for partner" channels

-split screen is the way this game works, so even if u play it online, it will be on split screen
because like (a way out) and (it takes two) this game require collaboration and timing
u need to see what the other player is doing

-also like (a way out) and (it takes two) this game supports "friend's pass"
which means that only 1 player need to buy this game and then he can invite any of his friends to play with him for free
so no, u don't need to buy 2 copies, 1 is enough
note that your friend who doesn't own it will still need to download the free friend's pass version of the game
any1 can download the friends pass copy of the game once split fiction releases
so u don't have to wait for someone to invite u to be able to download it
also note that (friends pass) player will not receive any achievements
the save from friends pass carry on to the main game if u decide to purchase it later but the achievements don't, u r gonna have to re-do all the achievements

-all 3 games (a way out - it takes two - split fiction) support remote play
so u can invite someone to play with u without them having to own the game nor download it, they just press accept and your pc will stream the game to their PC or any platform that supports steam link app (even if they r playing on android phone or smart TV)
note that remote play require decent internet speed for both players or else the game will be laggy or unplayable

-both a way out and it takes two didn't support family sharing which means if u bought either of them, your steam family members won't see the games in their libraries
but split fiction is gonna support family sharing which mean any member of your steam family is gonna be able to play this game while u r not currently playing it

-a way out requires EA app to be able to play/invite friend
it takes two used to require EA app but no longer does
split fiction also won't require EA app to play/invite friend
split fiction is gonna require EA account to be able to play cross platform (only EA account not EA app)

-a way out and it takes two both didn't support "cross platform" but split fiction is gonna support it which means u can play on your pc with your friend who owns it on PS/Xbox
or even if they don't own it, u can invite your PS/Xbox friends to play for free with u using the friend's pass
note that to use the cross platform feature u need EA account

-they confirmed split fiction coming to (geforce now) in march

-split fiction is verified on steam deck

-for any1 who wants to test the game before buying it or maybe to test if your PC can run it
both players can download the friends pass to play the opening and the first level for free

thx for reading and if u have any question feel free to ask

The lazy option is just try to quit at ends of chapters and remember where you were
Thanks guys. He'll only be playing it once a fortnight with friend so the save swap should be fine!

some players want their own saves so they can know how many mini games they unlocked and how many of them r won/lost
i do have multiple saves to play with multiple players
not very ideal to keep swapping the save file but its the only option

thanks for your sharing, does anyone know if we could use 2 controllers on my PC? Or one player have to use keyboard and mouse on PC even if they have two controllers each?

According to EAs website (https://www.ea.com/games/split-fiction/split-fiction/features/friends-pass-pc)
"The game can be played offline using two controllers, or one controller and a keyboard and mouse (on PC only). Offline play does not require an EA account."

Thanks. Any chance of a bit of a step by step on this, please? I’m looking through Steam folders atm but not sure exactly what I’m looking for…

If i install the friends pass and then after few days decide to buy the game will i have to delete the friends pass and install the full version or the friends pass will automatically get upgraded?

it will get upgraded
so don't worry, u won't have to re-download it
and your progress will also carry over so u can continue where u stopped
To the OP:

Thank you for the information. I was going to ask the almost certainly stupid question "can you play this co-op game solo" but you made that not needed.

Unfortunately, despite the cool concept (especially as a writer), I am going to pass. I am very glad that this game is doing so well though; great concept and looks well polished.
