NEW INFO ON CRASHING AT TOS (CoD MW2019 & Vanguard)
Decided to mess around to see if there's anything I could do to fix the issue that effects both games.

I was curious after reading that some users were able to launch the game with no internet.

So I tried the following:

Unlinked all platforms from my Activision account

Game works, no problem.

Game started up and prompted me to login as an Activision account is required.

When I logged back in to my original account, instantly crashed.

So basically, there's a permanent curse on some Activision accounts.

WARNING: You can only link an account once per year. So if you try this, you'll only be able to link one account after unlinking the current Steam account. You then won't be able to do it for another 12 months if you want to link the original account again.

If I had to guess, the curse is probably applied to the accounts that purchased and played the games before on Bnet.

So as of now, if you're unwilling to part with your original account (As I am) then both CoD MW19 & Vanguard on Steam are permanently unplayable.

Despite this being the case, both Activision and Steam are unwilling to do anything to help you.

If you bought the game more than two weeks ago your refund will be denied, despite the game not functioning at all for some people (Crash at TOS)

I bought both games, didn't work when they launched on Steam but was positive it would be a quick fix. That never happened.

TL;DR Issue has been identified but will probably never be fixed.

I have never had that issue with MW 2019, and have never purchased or played any games through Bnet.

I had the same crashing on TOS and also first played on BN. But went to offline mode and it launched, then went back to online to sign in and it worked. It doesn’t if you move files to another drive after original install for some reason and always has missing files every time you do a verify. So damn strange

There is also a bug appearing when a account has more than 300 friends the game can’t connect to the servers and crash at the TOS screen. Some people got their game working after I told them to block all their friends start the game when you are done playing unblock ur friends again.

Will re-install and test when I get some time, I'll post back with results

How do you block all your friends? do you have to do it individually? I have over 800, blocking and unblocking over 500 individually will take forever

I had this issue while launching MW2019 for the first time and having no issues with Activision accounts. Turns out : when the game window was hanging over my 2 screens the game would freeze and crash my PC.
So turning off my 2nd monitor (and switching to "PC monitor only" in the Windows+P shortcut) solved the problem for me.

Then u have a another problem besides the friend list bug. Me and some others can play the game without crashing anymore when blocking friends. It’s a bug when converted the game from battle.net to Steam they needed to adjust the numbers but they didn’t till today sad.

That’s a known bug with all latest cod games. Just don’t do it it always redownloads the same files over and over again they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ some things up when downloading the games to Steam Servers COD 19 and MW2 having that issues. I’m sure Vanguard and MW3 too since I don’t own them I can’t test but in COD19 and MW2 the redownload of the files has nothing to do with the game Bering playable or not. For those with over 300 friends on Steam I told all mates the workaround and they tried it and couldn’t finish the game finally. Everyone with problems should try a clean install of Windows and try it again. I’ve reinstalled windows 6 times until I found that friendlist bug. And the campaign was worth it 👍🏻✌🏻

Well if you read the original post, you can see it's related to my Activision account because the game works when it isn't connected

Anyway, looks like there's nothing we'll ever be able to do about it

I've since opened another support ticket, tl;dr they basically just did nothing and closed my support case, they don't care.

Yes the game crash when it tries to connect to the servers it’s well known. You have more than 300 friends on Steam so it’s impossible for u to connect to the servers. Blocking all ur friends should normally fix the issue. It’s not related to the activision. It’s a friendlist bug when activision converted the game to Steam they had to adjust the numbers but they didn’t. So all accounts less than 250-300 friends on Steam can play it fine while accounts who have a large friendlist can’t connect.
