Overheat causing graphical stuttering
Hi, as above I seem to have an issue with heat. I have zero issues with Halo 4 or any other games I play in 2560X1600.

Any known fixes? Ideas or suggestions?

I7-900 CPU, 32gb RAM, Radeon RX590 series.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Halo 4 is an old game even for RX 590, so you shouldn't compare it to MW. I'm not sure if it's your CPU or GPU that is overheating, but I will tell you a few things to do.

What you can do physically:

1. Clean your case, make sure your fans are dust free and nothing is preventing airflow.
2. If it's your CPU that is overheating, renew your thermal paste if it's old and clean the heatsink.
3. If it's your GPU that is overheating, blow some air through its heatsink and make sure it is dust free. I won't recommend renewing thermal paste on GPU because you will void warranty (if you still have it) and you may also need to replace thermal pads by taking off the cooler.

What you can do in-game:

1. Make sure you lock the FPS. Running the game with unlimited FPS will overwork your GPU sometimes above the FPS your monitor actually needs.
2. You may try lowering your resolution a bit too.
3. Make sure demanding settings are either off or on low, like ambient occlusion and shadows.

But I have to say, your CPU is 1st generation which is quite old and your resolution is way above what an RX 590 can handle. Your GPU was made for 1080p even back in the day. I would suggest you to firstly upgrade your CPU to a modern one (it doesn't have to be an expensive one) and maybe upgrade your GPU too, if you want.

Lower the graphics. Turn some features off. In older gpus it's the main reason of that, and it has or no (depedning on a game) a major effect on gpu overload. I always turn-off these like Ambient occlusion, FXAA, filmic grain, blur effects, shadows on lowest etc. etc. when I notice too much temp.
It works every time in my case, and I have a glass panel in my PC also, and I always checked that as I am gaming. In my case, it solves, when too much setting are on, so it's probably good advice to check what u can lower in graphics.

Hi, thanks I will give those all a try. Also to correct myself I meant the latest Halo which is Halo Infinite. I have zero issues with heat or graphical issues with Halo Infinite.

Thanks for the troubleshooting guys, will blow out the case and have another go. With the graphics settings I was hoping I could just adjust to a lower default, but it doesnt seem to have default graphical levels, Which means I have to turn off and reduce particular items, any suggestions to reduce?

Thanks again for the help :)

Lower anything shadow related and turn off ambient occlusion. And don't forget to lock your FPS. Good luck!
