They have just ruined the game by trying to integrate the new money maker.

Buying mechs is all messed up
Everyone hold off buying or upgrading until they fix it.
Very, very disappointing

I played most of the MW games to date. TLDR: if it gets mod support, it could actually be good and worth $

- PGI can't remember a world before RPG progression mechanics. Everything has to have xp regardless of whether it's fun or makes sense. Stop. Just focus on customization and content re: mechs, weapons, equipment.
- lbx spread makes it useless, same for streaks and lrm's and some AC's. By the time you're that close you could have finished them with lasers.
- weapon groups interrupt eachother? RIP Tag
- half the voicelines are fluff, especially in mission. half the characters are overacting
- overuse of contractions and 'freeborn barbarians' as a point of convo. don't bludgeon the dialogue with clan-isms.
- it's pronounced jăg′wär, or if you prefer, clan fog panther
- as sometimes happens, lighter mechs become obsolete, probably due to linear maps and objectives. also hurts sniper/lrm viability.
- no escort missions? no smash and grabs? no ambushes by 30 srm/lrm craft? no base capture and hold? why?
- at the very least shouldn't they mass their forces instead of sending them piecemeal
- UI is too monochromatic, needs customization options
- where is thermal vision? .... ???
- footsteps don't need to be that loud

~ turning on 'scan mode' and then holding button to 'do the thing' is a step toward interactivity but it could be more.

+ I like the music, the maps look good albeit linear, weapon effects are nice. The plot gets more interesting as you go.

EDIT: I'll also add that PGI kept a weird unpopular feature from MWO -- mech model size is based on tonnage x volume, so that 55t stormcrows are as tall as 85t warhawks. This never made sense, because it assumes the internals are spread out with 'uniform density' like a liquid. PGI, mechs are not water balloons. Their height/width does not have to be directly tied to weight/volume because not all machinery uses space the same way. Also this makes those short mechs less viable especially if they can't run jump jets to move/shoot over obstacles. Please check some egos over there and don't force features like this. Good luck.

I love this game. It is an ode to things that made some of the original games (MW2, MW2 Mercs, MW2 GBL) so excellent. It is not without its flaws, but the storytelling, characters, cut scenes, and missions scratch an itch that no other MechWarrior game has been able to since '95.
