Finished Campaign - its just too short
The game plays well but its only worth playing on Game Pass not purchasing like I did. Not buyers remorse as I want the devs to make more so I bought the game but all in all its just too short and has no replay ability. They REALLY NEED the Mechwarrior 5 sandbox. Without the sandbox this game is one and done. Not the best experience for the money. I would give the game a 6 out of 10, it works but it should be a $40 game at most.

we will probably not get a sand box mode for the game. Its most likely going to be a series of story drive DLC mission packs either continuing the story from where it left off or telling it from other perspectives. as the devs have said there going with a more story based focus with this game VS mercs. which actually fits the clan invasion period when playing from the perspective of the clanners since as a clan warrior you wouldnt have the ability to free roam across the inner sphere since youd only be able to do missions for your specifc clan.

Not going to lie, it felt like the longest Mech campaign I've ever played. Difficulty padded time quite a bit, but around 23 hours is all it takes. That's more than I can say for most games.

The original Mechwarrior was $40 in 1989. PC games NEED to cost more due to inflation. We've been lucky for 25 years that PC game prices have been relatively stable.

yeah but in 1989 games were properly developed and tested.

nowadays testing is not something that any money or time is spent on anymore...

Because of the sheer size and complexity of games nowadays. You can spend only so much time and money on testing, if you want to release your game at all.

yes that is true too. however, it looks like it has become common practice to release games that have had hardly any testing at all... and not just talking about this mess here (which might eventually turn into a good game)

Maybe hundreds of millions spent on advertising inflating simple games to 500 million dollar affairs isn't a good idea?

On top of what others have said. we aren't "Lucky" that is asinine. the industry has only exploded over the last 2-3 decades. it has only ever seen growth. lots and lots of growth. it is a multi-billion dollar international industry. games should have gotten cheaper. they instead found more ways to monetise the consumer with each passing year.

They took F2P monetisation schemes and crammed them in full premium purchases and have only double downed. adding full on gambling at times. the only reason they've been pushing to increase the cost of games is to Further push their income and thus appear to continue to grow beyond what they actually have.

Edit, not to mention governments have actually made efforts to protect consumers from some of the more outright illegal MTX schemes in some games.

it has almost same length as old mw story mode. just hope there will be more dlcs

I think it's about the right length for a $50 singleplayer MW game. Though I do wished it came with an "Instant Action" for the SimPod.

MW 2 had 32 missions. 16 for both CJF and Clan Wolf. MW 3 had about 20 and MW 4 had 27.

I believe we got our moneys worth. It was a great storyhline. Do I think some things could be better / nice to have? Sure, absolutely. But it was still a fun and I likely will play through it again for other decisions and then to finish up the achievements I don't have.

It's not a bad spot to pick on the ending (at least on the path I took where I picked Mia). My educated guess is there will be DLCs that pick up and continue the storyline based off your decisions since actions should always have consequences. If each DLC is 40 bucks (I didn't pay for Deluxe btw), then my expectation is the same amount of content that we got for the base game with maybe a few more QOL things such the ability to get more salvage to support the research as opposed to cap of 600. Maybe more mechs? Maybe a DLC from another clan perspective?

It's a lot different then MW5: Mercs but worth it. I'm kinda hoping (and honestly expecting) the next (and I think final?) DLC of Mercs to be somehow Clan invasion related.

My personal experience with MW5 Merc is the sandbox does get boring because most of the missions are the same and never ending spawning of enemies is just insane. Feels like I am in a sim pod. Gets boring after a while. Only time interesting about MW5 Mercs to me is to get new mechs and see how I can mod them. The battles are really just secondary to me. So I personally do prefer the MW5 Clans format. For now.

agreed with your point.

Can highly recommend mods for mercs to make the game much more interesting. They added a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of new and worthwile content, including clan invasion stuff...

If you haven't tried coyote mod for MW5 you are missing out on some truly crazy missions.
