How do they say it these days? ''just like me for real''
Haha. Well, I dont hate Ryza 2 but also couldnt finish it. The rest is very similar to my experience, including hating the twins. Sophie 2 I still need to finish sometimes because I had issues with the map being too annoying and big. But otherwise enjoyed it a lot more then Ryza games as well. Character interactions were just way better. (also better then all the mysterious games)
From what ive read Ryza 3 is more of the same as Ryza 2, or worse in some cases (UI, larger world) As a result I havent bought the game myself.
From your summary I notice you didnt list Lulua (more modern Arland ''4'') or Nelke. I'd recommend playing those games instead. Lulua's gameplay was more similar to Mysterious (alchemy was very different tho) and alchemy not braindead easy.
It is one of the Atelier games I enjoyed the most. (Lulua's character is like an Atelier Fangirl, in a good way)

Nelke is anniversary city management title. So it has very different gameplay.
Assigning characters (from all Atelier games) to gather, produce items and achieving time based goals. It has combat but its a pretty simple 2d style. Can be a lot of fun too if you enjoy that type of game or just want to see events with the various Atelier franchise characters.

It's considerably different. Whether the difference is good or bad depends on the individual. However, my advise is if you don't like Ryza 2 then don't bother getting Ryza 3 since some of the plot would be "missing".
Let's face it, not all Atelier games are for everybody. For example - I personally dd not like the time limits in the first (PC) games. Not that bad that I would quit playing the game (although Totori came very close), but nevertheless I did not liked that mechanic at all.
However - Other players swear by that time limit, and find the games without a time limit dull and boring. And that's perfectly fine of course.
Back to Ryza 3. This game has more similarities with the first Ryza, but at the other hand it is totally different in other respects. For instance - It's far more open world than the first game. In that respect it's a bit like Atelier Firis (although I personally think Firis is a bit better done). Also the introduction of keys in the Alchemy and battle mechanics is a nice expansion of the base game play.
I hope this is of some use for you. However, without knowing what specifics you like and don't like it's hard to give a decent advice. Maybe this helps...
