Will they ever release Ar Tonelico games on steam?
I really want all the games in the "Ar" franchise to be re-released on steam. Do they even own all of them?

I don´t think they do
Ar Tonelico is in licencing hell between the publisher, GUST and the Japanese recording industry. GUST can't even release them again in Japan.

Wow didn't know it was that bad. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere to get them.
I´m pretty sure they own Ciel Nosurge and Ar Nosurge, but Bandai Namco(?) owns the Ar tonelico series. Apparently Gust released DX versions of the Surges last year, but only in japan. I think it´s on steam too.... in japan.
I´m guessing they just don´t expect westerners to enjoy the games.

Yeah GUST or KT definitely own Nosurge, but there's a reason Nosurge only alludes to the original series and can't be super definitive about the connection.

Now that's an old game franchise I've not heard being talked about for a long, long time.

good, we don't need no more Ar Tonelico, those games was cringe af.
I heard that name before, long ago. Were those games similar to Atelier somehow?

Nah, they are jrpgs with story focus on music instead of crafting. And unlike Atelier games they have the more complete stories that you'd expect from a jrg. They also have some unique gameplay like 'going into the mind of characters' and via gameplay+dialogue coming to know what they are like.

But they were also made by some dev (Gust) hence why they get mentioned here.

Whether Ar Tonelico series or Ciel/Ar nosurge, they are some of the most unique jrpgs around.

Completely agree. I would like to see these games come to the PC too. There are two games in these series in English on the PS. I think they are Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star and Ar tonelico Qoga Knell of Ar Ciel. They are portable to the PC probably. I don't know about the games that did not have a translation though...

Would be pretty awesome, but I hope they fix that bug from AR2. I got stuck in that and never touched the game ever again.
