Taking the above in account, it was to be expected the there would be a third Ryza game. And indeed - here it is... After this third game I think there would be a new trilogy starting with another protagonist. If that protagonist will be the main protagonist throughout the trilogy remains to be seen. It's fully possible Gust goes back to one protagonist per game (with the previous protagonist in the backseat). Time will tell.
Anyway - This will be that last Ryza game as far as I can see. Although it would not surprise me if you would get a Ryza 4 much later after the next trilogy.
Personally I am looking forward to this last Atelier Ryza game. I am curious what will come after that, but I guess we have to wait at least a year before we find out.
You can argue the alchemy is different from the previous games, but I personally had a fun time with it. I like the mechanics in Ryza, but I also like the matrix/grid based mechanics from previous games. The story is on par with the previous Atelier games, so there is also no problem. Maybe you can argue about the fan service, but that's also nothing more than a personal taste. I don't dislike it at all, but I also think it is no big deal. Nothing to make a big fuss about really. I like the art in the Ryza games. It is on par with the latest Atelier games like Lydie & Suelle and Sophie 2.
And yes, before I get the argument I have not played enough Atelier games to give a balanced opinion - I played (or am playing) almost all Atelier games. No - I don't have all games on Steam (yet), because I played a lot of them on a console. So I think I can at least am entitled to give a somewhat balanced opinion (although, like all personal opinions, it's somewhat subjective).
At the end I think it's a question of taste. Some like the Atelier Ryza games, and some not. There is no real definitive answer for something that depends on taste.
I wanted a different protagonist in the secret series....and Ryza 3 later, if it was still necessary storywise...
But it will be a fun game anyway, I guess I should be happy instead
I have played 10th Atelier games: All Arland series (4), all Misterious Series (4), and Ryza 1 & 2. Ryza series are fun, different mechanics from others and fun gameplay. I think still is a bit weak in terms of exploration, but seems this going to be improved, who knows.
Also Ryza is a great character, given is the main protagonist in all the series, we can see her evolution deeper, first as a girl unconfident about what to do with her life, learning alchemy, facing an unique adventure, later becoming a teacher, travel for the first time to a big city discovering a new adventure, forming a deep bond with a faery and then thinking about what will be her next step in her life.
I think is a great way to close her arc, although if for me, I would like as many Ryza's Gust wants to throw at us LoL xD. At least is what I believe. Time will tell.
Yup. But what can you do. They want that popularity $$
I hope they atleast improved things compared to Ryza 2. Especially the combat they really messed up going from 1 to 2. Or the alchemy being too easymode.
The Ryza series doesnt follow that theme. Because those other series all have different main characters. Ryza has had the same main character for 3 games now.
Atelier has always changed main alchemist with every single game, and now weve had the same main alchemist for 3 games in a series. I'm not surprised people other then myself are tired of her.
Coupled with the fact she's no Sophie or Ayesha... at best she's kind of the middle of the pack, at worst she's one of the least appeal Alchemists in the franchise. And her cast of characters are kind of underwhelming aside from a few like Klaudia. (Empel and Lilia werent playable in second game)
Actually I would have prefered if Ryza 2 or even all 3 games had Klaudia as Alchemist..
What is she Rean now? Just because she gets 3 games, she suddenly turns into a great character?
She isnt a bad character, but she isnt interesting enough in personality or character design to warrant a ''great'' tag.
i'm also hoping to see a resolution to Fii in this game, felt much like a cliffhanger in Ryza 2.
so if people dont want rorona and sophie, we are stuck with ryza :^(
You may be right OP, but you are forgetting something very important: None of those new parties in each entry had thighs and booba like Ryza does :^)
And that did 'change' with her blossoming into full 'maturity' in this third entry ;D with a lead character like Ryza & her 'developing' like that it's like printing money mate! And every person of culture is here for it!
Game dev doesnt work like that. They already started on Ryza 3 before Sophie 2 was even finished.
