I'm not getting it either, it's been like 4 hours and I've tried everything anyone said.

♥♥♥♥ it, I'm not doing it, WAY too annoying. PPDS leaving my perfect games list I guess :-/

Yeah Ive been sitting here with all ducks spawned, spamming the spacebar for an hour now and it hasn't popped. I'll wait until there's more info on how it works.

By reading parrot duck's DuckManager and ParrotDuck MonoBehaviour, the duck knows 5 4 sounds from the get go and has 12 sounds in total.

Another thing I learned from reading these is that there's a property "soundDetectionRadius" of value 15.0. Does it mean that it listens for quacks of other ducks to learn new sounds?

The cooldown is 10 minutes, confirmed by taking note of new sounds and the value "newPhrasesDuck" of 600.0 (600 seconds = 10 minutes).

Considering that some reported using an auto clicker and not progressing at all, it seems that the cooldown only progresses while the duck is not being spectated. Tested negative, the duck learns new sounds even if it's being spectated.

About soundDetectionRadius, it may be unused content.

I analysed whether not quacking blocks progress, and no, 20 minutes of doing nothing unlocked 2 sounds at once. Also, the order in which sounds are unlocked is random.

Conclusion: The achievement is obtained by having at least 80 minutes (1:20 hours) pass, then quacking.

In summary
I copied this from my guide.

Quack the parrot duck and have it make all 12 unique sounds (4 of them learned by default). New sounds unlock every 10 minutes and the progress isn't saved when exiting the game or leaving to main menu. It's sufficient to leave the duck floating for 1:20h, then quacking it a couple of times.

Sounds (some are in Italian, bold: default):
  1. Ah no-no (?)
  2. (Confused grunt) Aaa-ooh?
  3. Bella bah-ts (?)
  4. Bah-goo-vill-yo (?)
  5. Yip-yip (?) pappagallo (parrot) (?)
  6. Auw!
  7. Coo!
  8. Nuh-uh!
  9. (Lower pitch) Nuh-uh!
  10. Nocto (night)
  11. Hey, what's the problem? (?)
  12. Bah-tah para-zero (?)

There is a, presumably, unused property "soundDetectionRadius" of value 15.0 that may indicate that the sounds were meant to be learned by listening to the environment, but proximity to ducks and other sound sources made no difference from testing.

Please excuse me for posting so many comments, I expected to test one theory and it bubbled into a complete research.

Anyway, would any Italians like to provide the duck phrases? I could only understand "nocto" being night.

Thanks for this, this helped me. Just a note that for me, it took about 3 hours until I got 'all the sounds'.

Here's what I did...
1) New game, Originals, So Many Ducks, and Event ducks. Let it run.
2) Went to run errands, 4 hours later, noticed that ducks were starting to repeat, so hit Y to stop new spawners. Checked out Parrot, and it had 6 phrases. Thought, cool, I should only have to wait 1:20 minutes and check again.
3) Ran more errands... came back. and to my chagrin... Parrot was gone. I don't know if the punching duck bumped him to oblivion or what... but it was gone. sigh. Nowhere to be found.
4) saved the game, relaunched. Let it run again for 1:20. And then started checking Parrot every 10-20 minutes. It would occasionally have a new phrase. Yay!
5) Still took a total of 3 hours from launching from that save when finally, finally, clicking on Parrot just one more time, and I got the notification. Whew.

Yikes, I forgot about the duck going out of bounds.

About that — many other special events and achievements require ducks to be floating for a while too, so until the ability to automatically respawn ducks is added, you'd have to use PPDS-Mods[github.com] trainer for that.

Both parrots and parakeets are birds of the parrot order.
Parrots are birds of the order Psittacidae, and have feathers on the top of their heads, and the color of the feathers is monochromatic and plain.
Parakeets are birds in the parrot family, Parrotidae, and do not have feathers on their heads, and their feathers are colorful and bright.
If so, then :coolduck:Placid Plastic Duck Simulator's talkative bird should be a parakeet, a Scarlet macaw.:partyduck:

I have a little more info to add here-- you can't just let the game run uninterrupted. You also have to click on the parrot every now and then. About every 20 minutes or so, click on it and a new phrase should be in its repertoire. It won't add new phrases unless you click occasionally.

I just got the parrot achievement. I didn't time myself, but I clicked on the parrot at least once per spawn cycle (about 80 out of the full collection when I started, all DLCs and event ducks active). When I was focused on parrot duck I'd quack whenever it ran into a duck or wall.

I was playing on Hippospace, and quacked a bunch in the pinball section, haha. It went in there twice for awhile in quick succession, so it made quacking feel like less of a chore. Just wanted to add my two cents.

I think I got 3 new sounds at once without clicking in between. I really don't know how to determine this in better detail without testing for hours.

The only thing that seems legit is that we need to click the parrot once in awhile for it to learn new phrases. Leaving the game for hours without interacting won't work.
