MARVEL SNAP

MARVEL SNAP

Marvel Snap's Decline
I stopped play a while back and said my polite goodbyes to a fine community and tread of players, and by no means do I wish the game to end.
They had a huge drop off from 2024.

Here is an outlook so far of their year.

The big thing to watch is the daily amount of players in the game.
Do I think they must alter course in their monetization or die, yes. They have been working on a new game, and I think they have left this to others to do.

A nice video from Hoog to bring some levity to the game.

We will see in 2026, but I do think they are in trouble.
There is Star Trek and Star Wars digital card games coming, and strong competition.

I hope they can balance things, and truly wish them luck. I just felt they made the wrong choices in monetization and access to these cards.
Anyone, hope everyone is doing well.

Have a great year gang :dwarven:

Every game has a natural decline over time. The question is, what is natural and what is self inflicted. Is snap declining faster than it should due to bad practices.

So we can look at a few things that ppl hate and go from there.
1. Gatcha mechanic: ppl point at greed and the extortionate prices. But....I don't know of a gatcha f2p without some grevious prices. I think as far as the game goes it's fair in gaining cards as long as you have time to invest.
Ppl will point at P2W, and yes the game is designed to make you desire certain cards for your deck, but many ppl do budget lists and do very well with them. Sometimes a good armour and Cosmo combo will ruin the latest shiny destroy deck.
2. Bugs: this is my bug bear ( pun intended) the fact that the card touch bug has been there for over a year is nuts to me. Ppl crashing at various stages, ppl can't log in, etc. You can tolerate bad coding for soo long...
3. Card balance: less of an issue now than before because there are soo many cards now and soo many ways to win. But of course there are some outliers. Many point to cards like Zola, knull, etc.
I point to fricking cosmic ghost rider because it wreck four of my top decks, especially as an activate deck main it's frustrating. But theirs no consensus, which shows different cards bug different ppl.
4. Tin foil conspiracies: The biggest conspiracy theory is the cheater or smart bots knowing everything. Going infinite this weekend I played like 40 games, I deliberately emoted every game I suspected a bot and most emoted back. I confirmed only 6 of the forty were bot games and they were easy Ws for me because they weren't smart.
I have my theory about matchmaking, especially when I started with activate I saw a ton of red G and cosmic GR, I then switched to man spider build and started seeing tons of shadow kings and Shang chi's. I then switched to a hybrid and saw less counters. It's frustrating but not enough to make someone like me leave.

So in conclusion the game is not perfect, and it's doing some things that are shooting themselves in the foot. However, it's not overwhelming yet, for me the majority of the decline is natural.
playing this game is like walking the streets of Marakesh. every 2 minutes a new opportunity to beg for your money.
i quit long time ago, check in once in a while to see how many people still get fooled or hold on to their addiction.
i booted up the game on my phone after over a year, to see what their 'welcome back' package includes. Its mainly 4 or 6 offers to spend your money on some BS.
And a calendar, with like a month long of average log in rewards.
These devs fail so hard . Last thing you want to see when returning with a bitter taste in your mouth, is these darn pop-ups aiming for your wallet. Where is the fun, the gameplay? in other games.
Just to add, I really think the lack of series drops is strangling this game. The top end is just inflating more and more.
The main problem with this game is that we are playing against the same destruction decks and discard decks with a few new cards each month since the game began.

Almost zero thought has been given to other game mechanics long term; hell you can't even use the drop down menu to search for mechanics like End-of-Turn, you have to manually use the search bar.

Ongoing builds often can be countered with one card, meanwhile to counter some of the newer destruction decks takes at least 2-3 cards.

Unless the game devs validate other mechanics by making them viable without having to constantly counter the same 70%+ destruction/discard decks at 80/90+ there is little point to keep playing.

I've played against these same meta destruction decks for years with little variation, it is boring, and even though I can play them I won't. I've made infinite a dozen times, but what is the point if I can't play with new game mechanics w/o nerfing myself?

Yea I've moved on, no longer purchasing the fun for me isn't there anymore and buying cosmetics doesn't relieve how bored I am when I play.
why they are so greedy ? ot even a gift for christmas. I hate second dinner. How could palyers give money for theses thieves?
Snap had great potential and over the years they've made some good decisions as well as some bad ones. I think we all know when the scales went off balance when Kid Omega really turned players away.
While I respect some of their recent choices, it's become stale to me as my apathy has taken over my attitude which sadly bad decisions that were not rectified and now it's just too late.
Twitch was also a big part of the community and they really lost viewers and players.
Now with the Guardians having another season makes me wonder why when there are so many different themes to run.
I have to be honest though, the past two or three seasons have not given me any incentives to play other than to see new cards.
But now with repeats of older cards I'm pretty much done and waiting for other games to fill the gap.

Cos its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mobile game
they are doing ok if u check their earning from app.sensor tower, but if its up to netmarble, tencent, etc this game would be in trouble and risk of getting shutdown or not last for very long.
They are for the first time under 1,500 active players and so far in 2026 on a heavy downward trend.
This has not been a good month for them. losing another 2000 players, Again, don't wish them any ill-will, but the monetization, meta, card constructs. I am sure a ton of factors.
This trend cannot continue. :dwarven:

Shows how much you pay attention, there were login rewards over the holidays.
in my clan, half gy have quit the game.... becoming pay to win
I'm amazed it made that much money in the first place. I have been playing for ages and never spent a penny.

The problem for me is there are just too many new cards. I tend to just stick with my fav decks and add the few ones that come along that synergise nicely. I can easily do this via the earned currancies.
