PENI PARKER
Continuing the RIVALS month comes a character starting to gain branding popularity in a lot of games. Peni Parker, the Manga tech girl herself with her trusty powerful machine enter the fray, but will she have the impact they expect.
Dec 3-Dec 10th

This is to discuss the cards themselves and I always caution 1-key and to build those keys up to a minimum of 3, 4 or more, and not to go more than 1-key if you can help it. A vital resource to maintain. You decide, no one should be telling you to use this resource. Stick to the discussing the cards and stay on topic.

PENI PARKER (2/3) On Reveal: Add SP//DR to your hand. When this merges, you get +1 Energy next turn.

SP//DR (3/3) On Reveal: Merge with one of your cards here. You can move that card next turn.

Again another on reveal energy enabler that will let you play higher cost earlier. She is intended to give your some flexibility in late movement and allow you to access your strategy sooner. On curve, should work well similar to a Zabu Hulk Buster combination effect to access 4-6 cost card to the merging power of SP/DR. You then have flexibility late to deceive and challenge a lane. Three key issues I see with this card's mechanic. First, more work, second, lousy off curve, with board space backfiring on you can prove an issue to get her to work consistency in a large amount of games and last, like other merging effects, will the power differential be strong enough to make a difference. Alone no, but merging cards are starting to reveal how dangerous those cards can be. This will have profound powerful great finishes. Galactus, Gorr, Namora, Red Hulk, Iron-man, Alioth, Living Tribunal and others could have deadly finishing moves that turn the game on a dime. This also helps a broad range of archetypes that add late power and movement to your demise. You could take a wait and see approach to Peni's inclusion. A standard inclusion starter variant by Mello and Ryan.

SUBJECT TO CHANGE-BUT IF THE SPOTLIGHT STAY THE SAME

GLADIATOR (3/8) On Reveal: Add a card from your opponent’s deck to their side of this location. If it has less Power, destroy it.

https://marvelsnapzone.com/variants/gladiator-10/

He is a solid card and I have explained his deadly effect because sometimes you cannot make up the power and effect of his execution. Even when he draws high power, it allows you to counter with Shang-Chi, or simply limit board space to challenge that deck lane and disrupt your opponents ability to control his sequence. Though you are seeing other 3-cost challenge his power constructs. In key archetypes, whether Mill, Surfer, Destroy, Power, or whatever, he simply helps your strategy. Gladiator will make your life miserable on curve. He also has moved up in the Meta with the influx of new cards that have allowed solid themes. He is now 29th ranked, with a 56.9% win/rate and solid cube shares and trouble. There are now even ways to make him stronger. Always liked the card, and not a bad grab with your one key attempt if you do get him. A new variant by Don Aguillo to add to your collection.

SASQUATCH (6/10) Costs 1 less for each card you played last turn.

https://marvelsnapzone.com/variants/sasquatch-06/

Sasquatch simply put is not being utilized and his stats show it. Ranked now 287 with a good cube share and a solid 58.4% win/rate overall. What is the issue! Well for one, not many have him, with a very low owned rate, and he has an obvious deck recognition construct that put him in Shang-Chis sights that make him useless if not protected. Sasquatch has more reach than you think and players are limiting him to certain deck archetypes like Bounce, 10-Power, Thanos, Skaar, or themes that I feel make him one of the few 6-costs that are not situational. To me he is at the wrong power cost for in a six turn game his early play can be matched by already 4-cost power that do not give you an advantage, it merely evens the playing fields. However with Galacta now in play and other power augmenters coming. Sasquatch's power could reach deadly reveals that maybe too much to deal with in a 6-turn game. Kai Lun Qu gives you the classic Alpha Flight color scheme version as a new variant.

An interesting spotlight of two very good choices in Gladiator and Sasquatch if you do not have them, but to me, not a spotlight to rush to, for you may want to see how Ms Parker does first before investing. I will get Peni because I am end-game, but YOU do YOU.

Be wise with your keys, enjoy the discussion gang and gaming. My best to you all. Cheers :dwarven:

ill be skipping.
Allthough i enjoy Agony as merging card, these are on reveal.
Wich i consider a weakness, a counter point.
Also boardspace, i dont feel comfortable using an extra card to set up for a trick.
Gladiator i already have, dont care for this variant.
Sasquatch i do still need, but i dont want to risk a key on this week.

she seems a bit clunky. maybe a move deck could use her just for the mech?
