MARVEL SNAP

MARVEL SNAP

IRON PATRIOT
This is a discussion tread to discuss what you think of the new card coming.
Keep it civil and on topic. January's Battle-pass is nearing as the Dark Avengers enter, we start off with IRON PATRIOT.

IRON PATRIOT (2/3) On Reveal: Add a random 4, 5, or 6-Cost card to your hand. If you’re winning here after next turn, give it -4 Cost.

As we have seen with many negative affliction they truly struggle do to the AOE coverage of Cage, and another version of Valentina doesn't help. Winning a lane to lower its cost is quite different. I think they are just too cautious to open this game up. Iron-patriot, may have some fast initial help adding an initial card that can fit many sub-archetypes and help counter the paralyzing Mill format that have recklessly included. Three huge issues with this card right off the bat. One, RNG, you just do not want in a six-seven turn game guess work to your refined deck constructs. Two, out of curve and out of theme additions that may be wasted in your hand and lastly, its problematic mechanic could truly make your lane a nightmare with Clog, and other deck constructs that will be more precise to their executions. I also don't care for the weak stat-line for such an effect. However, there is support to the Dark Avengers theme cards the entire month will feature that you could construct a solid viable theme, but players adjust quickly and this may not have the profound effect they intend.

Galacta had great impact as a BP card, this one I would take a wait and see approach to what OTA changes they have in mind and as you grab the rest of the month Dark Avengers that may fit this theme together than alone. I will also warn to be very careful this month. Wait until the changes to the collection system happen before you rush to anything.

Feel free to discuss and you do you.

Cheers :dwarven:

He looks cool. I like how there's 2 parts to his ability, he gives you a card but you gotta work for the discount.

Strong enough for MMM to become Meta again, honestly as it's printed it seems waaaay too strong if you manage to activate it and it's not countered, completely snowballs the game.

Sure, if you're winning the lane AND get a good card from a huge pool.

I'd REALLY hope if your going to include Patriot that your deck is built around winning his lane turn 3. So you are more often then not going to win the lane.

Energy cheats have been proven again and again to be one of the strongest things that can be done in this game. This is an on stat 2 cost that gives you a massive energy cheat for an easy to meet condition.

It will have some impact to more recent cards included and will get support due to the theme of the month. Early turns will matter. have fun gang. :dwarven:
Seems like a total pass.
Seems like a total meta defining card.
totally broken card since red guardian doesn't prevent the gained card from getting energy lowered.

But then you're all-in on getting a good card from it. Snap if you do, retreat if you don't. Meh.

I've seen him pay off a total of one time (though I am admittedly not seeing much of him) and that was when he drew Alioth with Dream Dimension in play.

Your playing an on stat 2 drop, you are not all in on anything playing it.

So far it's a good enough card to slot into any Good cards lists, Lockdown, and Affliction which are some of the top decks of the current Meta. These decks were at the top and they CUT A CARD that was already successful and still are.

It's also good enough to make Dino a playable card with some lists not even having Victora hand in them.

It's fine if the card is not your cup of tea, but it's straight up cracked and is probably in the top 3 for best current 2 drop (I'd say it's number 2) without needing any synergy, and it's only going to get stronger once lists are refined.
