BRUCE BANNER
Continuing our Rival theme. Anyone remember the old Marvel hour Incredible Hulk theme song? No?...Doc Bruce Banner, Belted by gamma rays, Turned into the Hulk, Ain’t he unglamo-rays!, Wreckin’ the town, With the power of a bull, Ain’t no monster clown
Who is as lovable, As ever-lovin’ Hulk! HULK! HULK! Okay now that my teen girls stopped looking at me as a loon. Lets get to it.
On DEC 24-Dec. 31st

This is to discuss the cards themselves and I always caution 1-key and to build those keys up to a minimum of 3, 4 or more, and not to go more than 1-key if you can help it. A vital resource to maintain. You decide, no one should be telling you to use this resource. Stick to the discussing the cards and stay on topic.

BRUCE BANNER (2/1) When you end a turn with unspent Energy, 25% chance to HULK OUT!

https://marvelsnapzone.com/cards/bruce-banner/

First, great idea, not a great execution of this card. Really wish this was at least 50% chance. If you want the mechanic to get Hulk out sooner and revitalize the card. Then let them do that with better consistency. Sometimes SD is simply too timid in opening this game up. It is snap, not risk. It also has another criteria that many top players don't like risking, unspent energy. That all being said, played on curve. You have 4-to-5 turns to have this change for you that can secure a lane, but too soon, and Shang-Chi and other lay in waiting. The other issues is this puts it in dangerous tech card range. The idea of is interesting, but the risk with rng is not meta defining enough to risk. Though the mutate sub archetype of High Evo enjoys unspent energy, you are still counting on RNG for help and I can just see the rage when it does not happen, especially played off curve late. I do think this card getting an OTA tweak when its inconsistency data comes in. Will players get creative with this card, absolutely, but getting consistent win/rates in your deck constructs maybe too much to ask. A new variant entry by Mello and Ryan.

Subject to change, but if they stay as is.
RAVONNA RENSLAYER (2/2) Ongoing: Your cards with 1 or less Power cost 1 less. (minimum 1)

https://marvelsnapzone.com/variants/ravonna-renslayer-06/

Ravonna had a rough start and has found her place in getting key archetype cards out quickly and consistently that suddenly players had to adjust quickly to her ability to allow players good options sooner. She fits a ton of sub archetypes from Gorr Negative, Zoo, Ramp, Affliction, Tribunal, Ongoing, and even more coming. I felt her one power reduction unnecessary, but she is an on played card, and crucial on curve early and her stats show it. When played, she is 55.1% win/rate with a decent cube share, when just drawn she is 50.4% and a negative cube share, so she is all or nothing to the theme its constructed for. However, her deck constructs usually do very well even if not drawn were other cards suffer. Players however know her well and she is vulnerable to early tech counters. A fine card to get to play with if you hit on her with your one key. A new animated variant by Sean Galloway.

HIGH EVOLUTIONARY (4/6) At the start of the game, unlock the potential of your cards with no abilities.

https://marvelsnapzone.com/variants/high-evolutionary-09/

If you are new, High Evo has been in many spotlights and he has his own unique sub-archetype of "Mutate", with plenty of theme options and is very well known in the meta. The card itself is standard, like Arishem, where his statistics individually are not important. It the deck constructs win/rates that is all you should be focused on. At one time, High Evo decks were the most feared in the game, especially when a ton of broken cards entered the game, like Red Hulk, Alioth, and Ms Marvel. He now has a wide range of themes you can play with with broad sub-archetype combinations. Of Evo's based cards, negative affliction, or power ramp. Clealy negative affliction will continue to suffer as long as Cage exists. You are wasting your time in that theme. If you do decide to go this route, you must have an answer for Cage. There is also a large influx of power, and fun mechanics, he can give you some new cards to play with. Hello Bruce. Decks like Power Hulks with Luna, or Galacta Evo, continue to keep Evo's deck constructs in the meta, even at Tier 1 to Tier 2 results. A fine card to get and try if you do not have him. A new variant by Jon Lam

I always get the new card, but I am end game. This is a very skip-able week for players that have the spotlight card in I feel a weak week. Bruce Banner is not a card you rush to. You can take a wait and see approach. Careful with your keys, but as I always say, YOU do YOU.

Be wise with your keys, enjoy the discussion gang and gaming. My best to you all. Cheers :dwarven:

Doesn't seem too great. MUST float energy just to have a 25% chance to turn into a 12 power card. Even if you get Hulk early, it's still susceptible to shang cheese. I guess it's not flat out terrible, but I have a feeling a lot of the time those Banner cards will just sit there at a 2/1. Bonus if you Red Guardian Bruce Banner.

would be decent in a high evo maybe, is what I'm thinking, isn't great for wiccen style decks, so maybe integration for evo?
groovador Dec 18, 2024 @ 11:44am
i like it when they put cards that synergize with the new card in the spotlight.

Pretty much trash.

2/1 - 75% when floating 1 energy to do nothing.

They also said if you do slot him in an evo deck, the hulk that Bruce banner morphs into doesn't become an evo hulk

I don't understand how they balance and test cards like Red Hulk and Gorr to be huge scaling power but are too afraid to allow Bruce Banner to turn into Evo Hulk.

Vanilla Hulk and Evo Hulk have been power crept so far, just let Banner rng into Evo Hulk and see what happens, is my take.

I just hate his card's base art.

Dude got the jorkin' arm.

good with she-hulk/sunspot I imagine. Might be a niche card for a niche deck, but it's good to see some niche decks get a bit of love

Am i the only one wondering what HULK OUT means? its not explained anywhere. Does he turn green , rip his shirt and frame but keep same power?
Does he turn into the Hulk thats already in the game with equal 12 power?
Does he move each turn in anger and smash/destroy an enemy card each turn?
What in the Hell does HULK OUT mean xD
i do like the idea of the card, just wish it was explained better.

Bruce/Frigga/Peni or Psylocke = 50% one will hulk out!
I will probably use if as a bait play.

Very simple. Unspent energy, 25% of turning into a 6/12. So clearly you want to have some unspent energy. I am told, that they are going to implement a new variant of a RIVAL version of Hulk, but that they were not able to implement the effect in time, probably when they return, first patch. They could have, I just don't know.

He fits High Evo, Ramp-so more energy allows you to hit his effect, Early Patriot, Negative, statistically he should transform, but again, its risk and its strategy, because you could get a player to play Shang Chi too soon, but I don't like him early into high usage tech cards.
One thing I would not do is leave him alone in a lane.
Similar to a Gamma Lab, or Mosnter Island early, and for the love of god, don't play Banner into those locations. How players deal with early power will determine the escape route or match.
Is he say a better option for you than Shocker on turn 2, yes and no.
The earlier down, the most likely he will proc, but I just don't like risk-reward cards in massive game quantities.

I did warn to watch your keys, and take a wait and see approach, I do think there will be changes coming to this key system and acquisition method of how they do things, they are bleeding players.

However, if your lucky enough to get him with 1-key, then you have a new toy to play with.
Peace :dwarven:

Lmao 3 games against bruce banner
3 games he turned into hulk by turn 3
talk about having danger room odds of happening
Yoki_NL Dec 25, 2024 @ 3:22am
if he procs, its strong. But they do need to change that basic Hulk that appears.
False Prophet Dec 25, 2024 @ 8:49am
pretty garbo imo if not played on 2 it feels infinitely worse to play
