LUNA SNOW
As we say goodbye to the Asgardian Gods. Here comes the collaboration month with Marvel Rivals. First up in the spotlight week of December is the Snow girl. Will she have the impact they expect.
Dec 3-Dec 10th

This is to discuss the cards themselves and I always caution 1-key and to build those keys up to a minimum of 3, 4 or more, and not to go more than 1-key if you can help it. A vital resource to maintain. You decide, no one should be telling you to use this resource. Stick to the discussing the cards and stay on topic.

LUNA SNOW (3/5) On Reveal: Add an Ice Cube to each side of this location.

Ice Cube-At the start of each turn, get +1 Energy. Then destroy this if your side is full here.

Luna is clearly trying to pick up on the dynamics of many additional card mechanics were it clearly allows you a fast energy start every turn. Where some cards can penalize your board space, and others offer fun options to added card choices. Here Luna will allow to get to the meat of your deck faster whether you choose, power, energy enables, disrupt, or specific sub-archetype themes. This card can pose many late dangers with other energy enablers to assure your strong power drops do not sit, and I feel Rivals month will open the game up slightly to stagnant meta. Luna has two issues, off curve and board space. Whatever theme you choose to do she adds yet another On Reveal option. The other issue is the Ice Cube does not benefit her as a card when it should giving her either a power buff upon its destruction or some other impact. The card could have had a more broad appeal, but I don't like its energy-power stat-line inclusion. It should be a 2-cost to allow more interaction with her usage. A new variant base intro by Mello and Ryan.

Subject to change, but if they stay as is.

LADY DEATHSTRIKE (5/7) On Reveal: Destroy each card here with 3 or less Power.

LDS has two significant stat-lines. She is a when played tech card with sub par numbers, or she is dead on arrival sitting in your hand. Ranked 181 and dropping. LDS has a 47.1% win-rate when drawn, but 53.1% win-rate when played. Meaning that when she is played she can help turn the tide of a one lane decision, but like many in game, her win percentages and cube share do not warrant you having to include her in your deck. You cannot count on her in tight deck constructs to be consistent or impactful enough to count on her consistent play. Clearly, not Meta defining. She has benefited from the inclusion of more lower power cards, but outside central sub-archetype specific themes. She will struggle. That may change as more cards come into the game. She also gives up slight power for execution and would have more impact at a higher power line. If you get her, not a bad card to give a try and explore. A new variant by Creees and Ryan

X-23 (1/2) When this is discarded or destroyed, regenerate it at a random location and you get +1 Energy next turn.

X-23 has been a mainstay in the Destroy archetype and has many pluses to not only give you constant ramping energy but some board reach. Though not seen in many Discard builds, she has a specific purpose. She also allows other key destroy cards to be more effective to their results. Locking down two lanes is your goal and she is not about competing with power at her stat-line, but giving you the key to a solid start to your theme. The Destroy archetypes needs another bunch of cards from 1-6 in its theme that can allow players to grow and not be restricted by the limited options you can have. There is a reason she is ranked in the top 100 (81) a good cube share and a win/rate of 56.4%. She simply works. Players who do not have her will be tickled pink to grab. I do think in time the destroy theme will grow to allow more options for her usage besides the same themes. Her one down side is predictability, for minute you play her, most will know what is coming. An interesting pose variant by Stephen Segovia.

I will be trying for Luna simply to give her a try, but you can take a wait and see approach as not a huge spotlight support to go with her. LDS and X-23 are fine gets, but you have one final OTA for the year that may be coming and you can wait to see how Snow performs before using your resources. YOU do YOU.

Be wise with your keys, enjoy the discussion gang and gaming. My best to you all. Cheers :dwarven:

not sure what to do with her.

the text on ice cube implies that, if your side is full, it'll give you the +1 energy and then destroy itself. meaning if you play luna on 3, then on turn 4 you try (and let's say you succeed) to clog your opponent's side, they'll still get the extra energy on turn 5 anyway. plus the ice cube getting destroyed means their clogged location has free space again, so not only you've given your opponent at least +2 extra energy (+1 on 4 and on 5), you've also failed to clog them...?

i think Luna Snow could work well with Hulks, SheNaut and High Evo decks, especially with the new Bruce Banner card coming next month.

another deck I could see slotting into would be Silver Surfer decks. getting Sera out on turn 4 is a huge boost.

Well her stat-line is fine, but again I would have liked to have seen the Ice Cubes help HER and not both players. What it will do is give the feel of a "Force" sub archetype which could manipulate lane over-reach. I think had the Ice Cubes boosted her in some way to her stat-line. She would have much more impact in the Meta.
We will see. :dwarven:

I still haven't seen anyone play this card and that feels incredibly telling.
I was there for her debut in Marvel Future Fight and I'm looking forward to having her here too. I also have seen somebody play her.

Great in Surfer, Luna into Sera on turn 4 cranks up the decks power potential quite a bit.

I agree Tray, solid addition to Surfer, trying her in other deck constructs.
