Some of the common tells of bots are:
To back this up, no nvprod match data backs up these claims of bots adding cards to their hand or deck. There are no functions that provide cards to opponents through sequenced arrays outside of what is to be expected (like Daken generating Muramasa)
Any that suggest otherwise should be backing up their claims with the function in the JSON formatting that supports this theory.
It's also not quite true, you can get bots in Proving Grounds and Silver.
The season just began, a lot of players are still playing mostly ladder.
There are bots in the game 100%.
The purpose of the bots is to inject cubes into the economy (and to give beginners easier time). Since a match of marvel snap is zero sum in terms of cubes (loser loses the same amount as the winner wins) the cubes that new players need and the cubes that leave the game when someone stops playing have to come from somewhere.
Although bots have gotten sneakier in recent times, some old hints that you are playing a bot still apply:
- They often have default avatar (not from the shop or 'earned' in some way. A spotlight avatar means that your opponent is a human.)
- They often have a basic first name like "Tyler" or "James"
- they have weird cards or play them really poorly (A bot playing a move deck is often a comedic relief)
- Bots tend to snap on turn 5 if they are leading in two lanes. (this is key in milking maximum amount of cubes out of a bot). These days they might also leave if they are losing at that point.
- Bots used to favor the left lane, but Ive found that is no longer the case.
The only thing PG, Silver, Gold and Infinite changes is the MMR ranking of opponents you run into. The higher the level, the higher the rank/skill level of opponents you will encounter.
I searched the developer answers database, and found this:
You find one bot per tier, aside from infinite, the first time you enter that tier, and only the first time.
It could be old info though, the answer is from June 2023. It also does not say if this is per season, or overall first time.
