Whats a counter to the Destroy deck?
I kid you not, the last 5 hours of gameplay in conquest has been against decks that consist of deadpool, death, venom, and others that surround those cards. I'm quite sick of playing against the same things over and over. I win some times, and lose others. But it's boring AF to play against same people following some meta build online. Is there any major counters you can think of? I've gone braindead playing these people, so I can't think anymore to try and think of a counter on my own. But It's very frequent people getting card powers 12+ on almsot all their cards in almost all conquest matches above silver. And all those players are using destroy decks..

armor and cosmo are naturally the biggest counters, and shadow king is good against their venom/carnage/deadpool etc.

mobius makes their death unplayable.

you can also use killmonger as a tech to get rid of their deadpool on the last turn if you don't have priority.

... or you could play loki.

Shadow King's a low-cost counter to pretty much everything except Knull and Death, and even then, ironically, you can always bring Shang-Chi to destroy their biggest cards.

Armor and Cosmo are the obvious picks, but the problem is that Destroy only needs one lane to ramp in, so you kinda' have to hope for priority/get lucky with the Locations (and hope you don't see any of the 10+ locations that help destroy cards... or Cloning Vats. Or Bar Sinister.)

Yea, I dunno, It was like a 50/50 chance of me winning against them. But I just got fed up after literally playing against that deck type 9/10 times today. I wanted to try and finish getting this months conquest card, but was starting to go nutty playing against practically the same thing for 5hrs. For some reason during that time the Armor card didn't pop into my mind once....(fml) and I just added it here, and now I haven't gone against 1 single destroy deck in the past 7 conquest matches. I'm flabergasted now.

Well, I wont be able to give you the great tip to win, but some common sense for you to enjoy this game and take loss/retreat like a pinch of salt.
The earlier you learned this, the better you will get till you get the better cards.
Again, you will repeat to win and face a new cycle of frustration in the higher stage,

Armor & Cosmo locks a lane out for them, and makes it awkward if Wolverine or X-23 land on those lanes.

ShadowKing resets Venom + Killmonger.

Shang Chi takes care of Venom, Death and Knull.

Enchantress & Rogue counter Knull.

Killmonger can take out a deadpool turn 6 if opponent has priority (but obviously backfires a bit if theybplay Knull).

Destroy is probably the easiest deck to counter because all counters work against it.

If they play Deadpool and buff it with Nico, then land Hulkbuster on it.....I would just retreat. Thats too good a start.

Shadowking and Shang are probably the best counters against the deck.

i can already tell u that u won't draw armor and cosmo 9 out of 10 times u play against destroy.

the RNG is rigged as fck and don't forget destroy will probly have 2 good locations in every game.

I actually found Armor, and Mystique work really well in my current main deck. Cosmo sorta backfires on me a lot. But ya since adding the Armor card, I have yet to play against a destroy deck, which is just baffling me. It's really starting to make me think that match making could be rigged in some way to adjust possible decks to be paired against.. I even waited for 3 minutes in queue last night(way longer then normal) for a gold match, and got placed against a non-ability deck.... In my experience, they are very easy to win against. So I dunno whats going on now lol. Either way, it's basically easy Medals since i've added the armor card, I suppose I'm perfectly fine keeping that card if it is a literal deterrent for destroy decks in matchmaking.

Play destroy cuz you would rather join them than beat them

Thing with destroy is that it is one of the only meta decks that you do not need a bunch of series 5 card to play the deck, while most othe rmeta decks if you miss one out of 5 series 5 cards you cant make the deck.

So yeah, sadly ive been playing the same boring as hell destroy deck for a year. And a surfer deck that slowly changes a bit every few months.

Always missing one or two unobtainable cards to make other fun decks I want to make.

These cards can help:
- Armor (2/3) can help counter destroy for a lane.
- Shadow King (2/2) that resets cards to their original power.
- Shang Chi (4/3) can help if the destroy player can only hold one or two lanes comfortably.

Splitting up their destroy targets with cards that move them around and prevent mass destruction can help. These are just a few basic tips, but again, it's not always gonna win you the game. Sometimes you just get a bad hand/bad terrain and should retreat early to prevent cube losses.

both move and discard decks are pretty beefy against destroy decks...

One of the most predictable deck constructs in the game.
Basically 5 common triggers for the most part and is a ramping effect, that if you do not have a counter to, or you better out-point. It depends on, 'on curve' sequencing and more Destroy themed card coming.

It relies on On Reveal and On Going. It really comes down to 'deck recognizing' the end result of what he is triggering to.
Is it Knull, Death, Zola, is it Shuri Nimrod, is it Galactus, Destroyer...
It usually because we are trying all sorts of deck constructs and themes to 6 main archetypes and 16 sub archetypes, what archetypes are as strong or stronger than destroy for the archetypes are not equal.

You can't play like, I am going to add this and this to stop this one archetype, sacrificing your main archetype's goal only to then hurt yourself versus every other archetype out there.
sometimes it is the plan itself that can outshine Destroy. Who executes first and recognizes the other first. He is not always going to get destroy all sequenced right.

Discord, can throw down a ton of power
Negate Lockdown can utilize tech cards and locking down locations to not allow death any chance to ramp up
Prio-maintaining priority into huge payoffs like Red Hulk and Alioth
Arishem Loki, that can not just utilize a massive amount of options, your theme, but give you an out to win two lanes.
Augmented move that allows you to be where he does not think you will be
Force-Forcing him to play into lanes that he can't escape from like Jean Grey-Cosmo Ongoing
WIccan Sandman is becoming a problem for destroy.
Caiera Thanos that can add a a destroy deterrent to stymie Destroy, so it really comes down to who executes first, and not playing Shang Chi right or a Shadow King, Red Guardian or Enchantress at the wrong time.

My advice is play a lot of destroy to understand it and then this allows you to recognize its patterns to either outshine it, or know when his ramping may be too much to escape.

Good luck :dwarven:

Armor and Cosmo. If you deny their ability to destroy anything or trap their Deadpool and X-23, you win the game. Their entire win con relies on being able to play a cheap death alongside Knull or a beefed up Deadpool.

Beyond that, Mobius stops death's ability from working and Shang, Rogue and Enchantress can neuter Knull.
