NOCTURNE
In this month of misfits and outcasts that it took me a while to learn who the EXILES were, since I don't know that source material well. Outcasts from various multiverse worlds, we could be seeing their introduction into the MCU as Blink leads the way this month. First up is the daughter of, yep Nightcrawler. Talia Wagner. Yes, my daughter said get with it dad. Sigh, kids. :steamdeadpan:

Again I warn not to go beyond 1-KEY as I always advice you should be stacking you keys to a minimum of 3-4 or higher. It is wise to let things settle before rushing in.

https://marvelsnapzone.com/cards/nocturne/

NOCTURNE-Not the best super hero name, but put it mildly. Her power is wicked. She could decide location matches in one vile power move, as she is the combination of Jeff and Wanda here. That can open up strong finishes in the final turn or simply just twist games into a different direction, when she pleases. In a solid 3/5 stat line, she plays right into some strong Surfer decks as you can see now has plenty of strong choices in 'power' at three to compete, but she can also fit other solid archetypes, Move, Locale, Kazoo, Bounce, Destroy, Discard, Negate, Lock-down, to just wreck games. This is a dangerous card because she will be unpredictable like Jeff that you just simply cannot anticipate end result combinations. She will definitely prolong games as you try to figure out where she can go and what comes next. Two small drawbacks here that come to mind, is that RNG location change could backfire turning into a location you do not want. Secondly, she can be vulnerable to counters played into her that negate her value for she cannot compete with power alone. She has too many upside cards and with what is coming in "Dead pool" month and Eternals, some outlandish stat-lines that you won't care or matter. This to me is Moves strongest entry in a long time. Sorry Hercules. Jeff and Vision are just deadly in this game giving players a ton of flexibility and Nocturne will simply add to that theme of movement without the work. This is one I will try for. Eduardo Mello's fine simple variant base with Ryan assisting gives you some move help for sure.

If there are not changes to the spotlight choices.

CAIERA-When she popped into the game, many were pleased, oh thank goodness my 1 and 6 costs are protected, but she simply was not as necessary in a 12 deck structure. She has been steadily dropping since. So what was it as Thanos, Bounce, and high power deck constructs loved to have her around. She simply became a situational niche creation. I have seen decks that I simply say, she is not necessary. It truly became what your deck construct was to Caiera's usage. Why am I protecting some bad stat-line 1-costs and am I really protecting Skaar, Blob, and high power cards when I clearly don't need it in 3 lane protection. She truly became insurance to Alioth's mammoth reign (Man they killed that card). Caiera now at 198 rank, with a 54.9% win rate and low cube share when played became a card that many kind of went without. However, that being said as her prevalence in the meta has dropped significantly. She can be very beneficial if your 1-cost and 6-cost cards selected are precise to your execution you are trying to maintain. She is Kill-monger and Shang-Chi's nemesis. Sunspot, Nebula, Martyr, Titania, Maw, Magneto, Giganto, Red Hulk, protecting just a narrow few to power in two lanes can stop plenty of counters. She is a great insurance policy card and could get much more usage as more newer cards come in that refine those strategies, because top players hate waste. She needs buff, and I would not make her On Going, but a permanent ability card with a different stat-line. On-going counters just hurt her. New and mid level players if they do not have her will enjoy some of those deck ideas I spoke of, not a bad card to get if you miss on Nocturne. A fine base by Mello and Ryan. I am not crazy of the stiff posed variant, a nice rendition by Alex Horley you may get if you have her.

SELENE- Not very popular when she first came in as Poison got a nice new entry and many missed out on her deadly execution. Whether Havok decks, Goblins, Widows, Galactus, or some wicked poison themed affliction decks. Selene is trouble at times, but not dangerous and that is her problem. She simply not meta prevalent as she is. She is a catalyst set up card that truly is not necessary since her one trick pony theme cannot overcome the power Meta decks in the game and her brutal stats show it. Selene needs a major Buff, but to what exactly. With AJAX coming, she will even see less play and many will not risk her implementation. Her idea is great, her stat-line and RNG targeting is not. I have said this for a long while now, you cannot create affliction negative power cards when one AOE king exists in the game and Cage not only undoes anything she hits, but she gets crushed in the lane due to the power differential. Annie decks, poison just simply gets crushed and until they let that archetype loose will maintain its 30-80 rank usage. Yes, Annie sees some top play, but she is not in those decks or should be. She could get a buff, or other cards may change to give her more usage, but 212 ranked at 47% win rate, and god awful cube share, why would you risk it. Selene should be a 1/5 with a -5 affliction were you cannot alter that stat-line. She needs to have a broader range of usage and stat-lines that make her compete. Don't be upset if you get her because things could change. Mello and Ryan's base grab should not be a downer as you will have some limited new ideas to try her in. I am not a fan of portrait artwork in comics, but if she walked into a room, Phil Noto's rendition is not a bad idea.

I will be going for Nocturne for sure as I see her truly boosting move and other themed decks in the Meta. She will hurt lock-down for sure.

Remember this is a civil discussion on cards so enjoy the week gang. Cheers my brothers and the great ladies out there in your key hunts. :dwarven:

Nocturne will probably see alot of play in the silky smooth type decks with angela. I'm not sure I'm interested enough in those to get her on the first pass. Maybe during the second pass depending on what she gets paired with when she comes back around.

Nocturne is going to be a pretty solid tech option. My prediction is we'll see a lot of early usage of her and then it will peeter out because for some reason people don't run location techs despite them being very good.

Given Magik is always my most used card of all time ever- This card is again gunna make me sad to fight against.

As for the other two- Caera is also a good tech option, whereas Selene is a good card imo, but of course she is very archetype specific. I think the cache is worth pondering over for spending keys, tech options are always a good pull as they can slot into plenty of decks to cover some troubling matchups, and even if they're not gunna do anything for you immediately, they're good to have for future deck builds.

Crawler is daddy and Scarlet Witch is her Mommy which when you add up both of the cards energy and power you get 3/5 not only that, but she also has both of their abilities.

Going to enjoy this Exiles seasonal card as she seems to be a good replacement for location control. Going to be a very rough couple of weeks though mirror wise.
I plan on putting her in with quake, legion, Nico and her mom just to really really get on people's nerves. I feel she'll be a better card compared to Blink, very similar to how Black Swan dropped wtih Hope.

Is that her history Metal, interesting, makes sense. Yeah I don't know the Exiles, but my eldest daughter has a few of their titles. She will be fun. :dwarven:

A bit awkward since both she and Magik are 3-cost, so you still have to avoid playing her in the one spot Magik is being played, but otherwise useful. I imagine a few people will use her the same way they use Vision and slide him into a spot where cards can't be played, but opening the spot up for the opponent, too.

Also the inevitable "oh my god I moved my Nocturne and she turned the location into Bar With No Name."

How good is Selena's version It's a shame I won't get this because I don't even have Selena. But I’m definitely not ready to spend 5+ keys.

I would not advice that no, and I gave my impression of that variant.
It is possible my brother that maybe a while from now these variants become available after their spotlight runs in the store, or perhaps in a future Album collection thing, or if they reduce to a lower series, be able to be grabbed in caches, but I would think that will be a while. :dwarven:

isn't gladiator or zemo better picks for surfer tho?

btw regarding main post description, i wont recommend stacking 3 keys, since what if you want one card and wont get it with 3 keys? that would be disaster, and most people fall for it.

Glad is there in my surfer deck
I don't have Zemo tho, I have Spiderman instead, and I will replace him with Nocturne if I get her
Taweret May 8, 2024 @ 1:09pm
got her in third pull, not going for last one selene.
first one - obviously 1k token (mocking bird duplicate, last time i opened 4 caches i had thanos duplicate that i crafted with 6k tokens , so no suprises here, it's totally rigged and disheartening to spend any money on this game, when im lacking like 80% of pool 5 and 4 cards i'm getting dupes 2 times in a row)
second - caiera alt art, wanted that
third - nocturne
not sure if shes that good of a card i replaced gladiator in my surfer deck with her, and she has 3 less power and there is risk she will make bad location, so idk if it's worth it, -3 power for little more utility, making her 6 power wouldn't broke game either.
I was just watching The Gifted, took that as a sign about Deadpool 3.

One thing I haven't seen yet that I'm curious about- Will Nocturne work against Deep Space? I mean she has her text when she starts the move and lands, will that work and change the location before the spot wipes out her text?
