CORVUS GLAIVE
As Black Swan enters the fray and the Black Order take command. The next of the children of Thanos is Corvis. Never heard of him until I saw the Avengers Infinity Wars.

This is to discuss the cards. As far as the spotlight, obviously if you are NEW, any 1 key try is viable IF you do not have any of these cards. (Should be stacking these keys to 4 or more.

https://marvelsnapzone.com/cards/corvus-glaive/

An interesting card mechanic for an archetype that has a tight window. Exchanging cards for energy, but like Hellcow. This could prove problematic to control with potential killer results, risk for reward. I do not think the energy matters, the reason is you truly only have 1 turn to take advantage of it. The other issue is even with a positive result. You may not have the sequence needed to make an impact that next turn. I can understand if players skip on this one, however, it maybe a card that gets more help down the line. Right in line with that power I spoke about at 3-cost that is flooded to Surfer's range where you could make a Cosmo Surfer deck viable, but as a mechanic. Too cute for my liking. I see the clear fit with Thanos to discard the 1-costs in hand to gain energy, but a lot of risk if it hits the wrong cards if I read that correctly. I could have understood, 1 discard card for energy, but two with rng. Ooph. Art by Eduardo Mello and stunning one by Lee.

GLADIATOR- Former spotlight card that to me is one of the strongest 3-cost cards in the game, simply for the forge-gladiator combo allows a massive power drop early and kills a card your opponent may need. The Yondu/Gladiator combo is more significant than people think, to limit your opponent's deck to ten cards by turn 4 is very problematic. He also fits many archetypes and to me one of the strongest 3-cost cards in the game to lock-down one lane. Even if you draw a high power card, it disrupts that opponents deck to a deadly Shang-Chi combination that may relied on that power late. If you do not have Gladiator, a fine card to target. Ranked 90th, at a 55.2% win/rate and a good cube share. I feel this card will get stronger as more cards in the future come in the game. Nice variant from Shawn Crystal.

X-23-One of the best on curve 1 cost cards in the game and a solid addition to have for both archetypes. Ranked 49th because of destroys necessity to control and ramp up early, energy is not something to sleep on. She is more important than even Deadpool, What makes her devastating is her cube share and win/rate % to archetypes that need specific on curve play to over power their opponents. Permanent ability cards are brutal to in game play. She has few counters and though Destroy itself can be beaten, a dangerous card.
Operating at 56.9% is high for a 1-cost and around a .5 cube rate is not bad for a 1-cost card you cannot control. My daughter loves the Peach Momoko

I would caution going beyond the one key effort on this one as well. In my opinion, the spotlight is the weakest of the three cards. IF you are missing them, not a bad addition. For me, skipping this weeks spotlight to stack up keys, but that is me.

Happy Discussion my brothers and ladies out there.
Be safe gang. :dwarven:

My bet is Corvis may see some play as a 3 or 4 card package inserted into other deck archetypes, Corvis + Hela + 2 cards with a benefit to be discarded, allows you to Hela on 5 returning your archetypes cards to the field, and if you do discard the Hela it's not terrible because you have extra energy for your main archetype.

Hela decks that have access to better cards don't need the extra energy and don't want to run random discards.

Apoc also doesn't need the energy nor want random discards but if it were going to run one it would prefer Hellcow for the extra stats.

Thanos doesn't want to discard the stones, it wants to play them for draw and effects, the extra 1 energy isn't worth is to make the deck completely inconsistent.

8 keys left bringing the entire black order home baybee

I will get him since I need Gladiator anyway, and I play X-23 a lot anyway so another variant is always welcome.

Not sure how he will perform his first week but I expect he will be better with Proxima in the deck.

I think this could work in a BIG deck with Electro. Having only one electro is unreliable and you are not going to play more than one card per turn anyway, so discarding two cards is not so critical.

Im not excited for him, but I am opening for gladiator. Sitting at 11 keys right now, and nothing else I want to open for till the Ms marvel, Mockingbird week. So with luck I can get gladiator and corvus in just 2 keys. But if it takes all 4 I would be okay with that too, I like the x23 variant, but not enough to open for it on purpose.

Dunno, Electro ramp decks usually rely on a couple 2 card combos to spread out power, playing a card that can and will often kill your combo seems really bad.

Maybe it will be a completely different build. The last time I thought about this deck was when the blob was released. But the blob obviously didn’t fit because there was an arminzola and a black panther. Maybe now it will be a different kind of ramp.

well, I see him in Hela-Tribunal or big stats Hela, they only thing is those stuff don't really need him, time will tell whether he makes it better, worse or have not much impact.

I can maybe see it in the lockjaw version of Hela, but running it in Hela-Tribunal seems pretty sketchy.

Game ending hits - M.o.d.o.k. Hela, Magic, IW, and any of the plan B Tribunal pieces if your main Hela line isn't lining up.

It just seems way to risky to get an extra 1 energy that the deck operates fine without in the first place.

I want him to find a home somewhere but I'm pretty sceptical atm.

Corvus Blave

He distinctly said 'To blave'; and as we all know 'to blave' means 'to bluff'. So, you were probably playing cards, and HE cheated.

i'm calling it now theyre gonna nerf him by splitting his abilities

Highly unlikely, but we will see once hes being built with. But as is he seems kinda mid at best. Maybe once proxima is out next week? But even then... its not a card hela wants, and I'm not sure its a card apocolypse style discard wants. Maybe he creates a new ramp discard deck? Dunno.
ryu600RR Feb 19, 2024 @ 9:04pm
unlikely if they release that 7cost card soon yea
Lady MacBeth Feb 20, 2024 @ 11:11am
4 keys for him. Went x23 variant, Modok (1000 tokens duplicate), Gladiator (the real reason I was spending keys) and at that point I went ahead and used the 4th key to get him. Honestly if I had opened gladiator on the first key I was probably gonna stop. But it is what it is. Back down to 8 keys now.
