SUPERGIANT
As Black Swan enters the fray and the Black Order take command. First spotlight cache is the big lady herself. Feb. 6th

https://marvelsnapzone.com/cards/supergiant/

This is to discuss the cards. As far as the spotlight, obviously if you are NEW, any 1 key try is viable IF you do not have any of these cards. (Should be stacking these keys to 4 or more)

I see potential issues with Supergiant bringing Alioth back in the Meta as it presents the same issues and dangers as Inviso Woman themed decks. However, I will reserve judgment for a later date. Not thrilled about that 4/5 statline. She should have impact and be stronger.

DARKHAWK- A weird choice for a spotlight card, and could change be in order prior to his release. If you don't have him, no issue if you wish to try for him, around 68-70th rank, good win/rate percentage at 54.5, and in its theme dangerous, but predictable. Nice new variant and I have no issue with those who don't have him trying for him. Blob can hurt you, but even up top in the Meta, usually an easy deck recognition that if you suspect Blob, retreat, but in its theme, fine card.

ZABU-One of the strongest cards in the game and a must have for 4 cost themed decks, despite being no. 2 ranked, suspect win/rate percentages and again maybe a target of the new OTA prior to its sale, though I doubt it, for such a change would probably happen after the spotlight to get as many trying to get him now. Operating as around 53.9 percent win/rate, its an all of nothing card, but flexible to on curve play if the deck is not over-saturated with 4-cost cards. Where players can still execute their deck themes. Nice new Lun Qu variant and fine addition to any collection.

I would caution going beyond the one key effort on this one as well. Not a bad addition of two of the three here, IF you are missing them. I worry about Supergiant. I will be skipping this cache, since I have the cards and I want to take a backseat approach to Supergiant's performance since I have the resources to get her by other means, but as end game, that is me. I just feel my initial impressions is she is problematic as is. Like Miek, Hercules, and other bad cache sales, Supergiant may need some tweaking. Clearly designed to improve on stealth and cards that will reveal impact results, I just feel she will exacerbate Alioth's relevancy even more.

Happy Discussion my brothers and ladies out there.
Be safe gang. :dwarven:

Super toxic card, kills many turn 5 plays (Leech, Sera, Jane, Blackbolt/Stature combo). Very strong against Mr. Negative and Bounce.

Going to get this one.

Suspiciously the card slaughters Leech, making him even more of a "don't use" (I'm personally fine with that nobody likes Leech). Similar to how Luke Cage was board wide and staple in Cerebro decks and bane of any toxic deck. No need to remind SD's reasoning that a 2 cost card "shouldn't have so much of an impact" meanwhile Hazmat is 2 cost, board wide and the only way to send over rocks with Annihilus. And looking at Black Swan in bounce decks, that won't be the last 2 cost card that has an impact.

Pretty sure luke is being changed again. Saw this today from glen.

Q: Glenn, since you said that Elsa is getting an update in a future patch. Are there any plans to do something with Luke Cage as well?

It would be nice to have Luke Cage back to being a global effect even though that would mean making him more expensive.

Glenn: Stay tuned.

Maybe, but if they do, that would be just more ammunition for what they have been doing, "mess around and find out". That's almost equal to admitting they made a big mistake, but fixing it without admitting it.
And just so It's clear, I like the game, I enjoy the majority of aspect, but it hurts when you are watching them mismanage it. Its like watching your favorite pub burn down.

She sounds interesting. I might have to roll this week of she's good, although I have Zabu and Darkhawk those are some pretty cool variants I can take a chance on picking up.
groovador Feb 1, 2024 @ 6:36pm
honestly the weekly february cards (in their current datamined design, anyway) dont really interest me much. i dont like playing discard, so i'll likely pass on corvus and proxima, and cull just seems pretty 'eh.'

supergiant is the only one that looks interesting to me, but i'm also a little scared bc she has potential to be extremely annoying imo... and i dont like playing these "you dont get to play :)" cards.
Lady MacBeth Feb 1, 2024 @ 9:52pm
I've thought about her a bit more and while I'm not willing to use keys on her. Mainly cause I have the other 2 cards. I will wait to see her in action before l pull the trigger on the alioth in my shop for tokens or buy her instead. Even if I buy her, I will have the tokens for alioth when the magik/dr strange bundle is in the shop. Unless they nerf the datamine for it of course.
Zlehtnoba Feb 2, 2024 @ 2:27am
I will be getting Supergiant, I'm just not sure yet whether with tokens or keys, those two variants look quite nice.

So, at game end, cards reveal in priority order, player with priority first? Guess we'll be seeing lots of Alioth next week.
Perfect Cell Feb 2, 2024 @ 9:04am
Good thing she didn't retain her datamined version I already ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate Alioth (ik he has been nerfed, but i still hate that card cuz I don't get a chance to fight back, plus I don't have him).
She will still be a menace with the current statline, but not busted.
Gon just spend a key or two for variants this month.

Well without the curse rant, I hear ya brother. I just don't understand why Alioth was ever created, that development mindset, but its here and he will be a huge problem for invisible themes. Players are not dumb high ranked. They know how to play with priority, deck recognition, so I totally get where your coming from.
SuperGiant, Invisible Woman, Ghost, all problematic with Alioth in a two lane game.
This may force their hands, but how do you alter Alioth again. You either have to come up with an entirely new ability for Alioth, because clearly reverting him back to what he was is not an option. He will hurt any invisible themes trying to hide, Ultron, Sera Control last initiatives, poison, high evo, Living tribunal...you need that last lane, Alioth will kill your inviso themes here.

I have no issue with new ideas in card game abilities, but think it through. Its not just "Hey, I have a sick idea", its how that idea works with a massive growing card base full of abilities. The test release for money method can backfire big time.

I mean look at their past card releases, Elsa, destroyed, Chavez brutalized, Hercules, Miek, Man Thing, Havok, Blob, its either a bad card that they must adjust, or an op test card they must dull down, and you wind up with everything in a dull state.
14 archetypes that are exposed since clearly some are stronger than others.

We have no say man, we either adjust or throw up our hands and play something else, but I don't whine about their changes. Huge difference between a critique of what they are doing from my long experience and criticism of them as people. Their game.
There is no doubt they are trying, but they are kind of stuck in rushing ideas out for money and trying to find an balance is something that will never be balanced.

I believe in Buffing, not nerfing, (clearly if its a massive flaw then you nerf), but
as you BUFF 150 bad cards, you give players many more options, not redundant usages.

No issue with your disdain for Alioth, plenty there. :dwarven:

Can see this card going into that extremely stale lockdown deck which hasn't changed since December.

They run Zabu, Ms Marvel and Alioth anyway so Supergiant fits right in. Ms Marvel will guarantee priority for the deck, Supergiant hides everything, and then Alioth gets to eat 2 turns of cards.
kingts Feb 2, 2024 @ 1:45pm
When you see this,

https://marvelsnapzone.com/unreleased-marvel-snap-cards/

You kind of get a sense of their struggles, You will have Avengers in March, and then April and some of these seem problematic. The OP is the cache spotlight so we will stick to that.

Yeah Alioth will be a problem for this card for sure, Si, no doubt. :dwarven:

Supergiant seems fun, but I am skipping this spotlight. I have two of the cards, and it doesn't seem worth it to me. I am waiting for Thanos. Black Swan is 3/5 now. R.I.P. 3. cost seems awkward.

Black Swan is the first 3/5 with no downside. So there is that. All other 3/5s have a situational downside.
