Is the game p2w now?
From the patch update:

Weekend Missions offer more goals and rewards for players, beyond their current Daily Missions and Weekly Missions. With the initial release of this feature, each weekend will have three Weekend Missions:
Win Games to Earn Credits
Win Games with Season Pass Card to Earn Gold
Win Games with Newly Released Card to Earn Tokens
Each of these reward amounts will vary depending on the difficulty of the mission. There will be Weekly Missions available for each new card release. Weekly Missions for a Newly Released Card are a great way to earn back Tokens with your new cards – essentially reducing the overall Token cost!

Apparently, their Season Pass sales have been down lately so they're trying to get people to buy it. ;)

NOW???

The discussion of whether it is f2p or p2w has been there since the beginning, and I thought it was more f2p. But after this patch update, it definitely shifts it to the p2w side.

Depends how you define p2w. I have a hard time seeing how buying a season pass and getting some gold from missions qualifies. As you said, there is a whole debate centered around the token system and whether that qualifies as p2w, probably does, but this is negligible compared to the tokens.

You can pay as much as you like, if you suck at the game you won't win. It's pay to get early access or pay to get cosmetics, nothing else.

This is a negligeable change tbh.

If they put a little more gold reward in the season tracker, nobody would complain about it, and it would still be only to people that is buying the pass.

I have a certain unpopular opinion that season passes aren't worth it in this game. Actually spending money basically isn't worth it.

You have to drop massive quantites of money in this game to have a subjective "advantage" over a f2p player.

I'm I f2p and basically I have all the cards I want to and I can build any competitive deck if I want.

If they continue to drop one to two decent cards every month, I will catch up with payers just fine since I will have the resources to buy them, even if they drop at series 5.

true it's still a good balaced casual game even we don't spend a dime. lets hope it would still be this way and devs don't screw this game (for example by making it become a p2w).

luck does play a significant role though. been playing for a while i can say:
-luck matches locations with deck build.
-luck determine card draws.
-skills do improve % chance to win.
-"sensing" when to retreat or snap determine win/lose points (hence ranks).
-winning the game also depends on opponent lucks and skills. so even if you are in a bad luck, you would still win the game if your opponent is having an even worse luck or made a wrong move.

Not only season pass but revenue in general. Yu gi oh duel links already took back their throne.

a good game is BOTH F2P and P2W at the same time. so players have a choice whether to spend real money OR spend more time playing. the thing is. good devs must understand to make either choices balanced. im not mentioning paying for cosmetics as its purely optional so its outside this discussion.

say an average paying gamer A willing to spend extra $10 per month for an extra advantage to win the game. another free gamer B not willing to spend a dime but spending extra 2-3 hours playing the game for 15-20 days in a month should have same win rate as gamer A.

thats my opinion. but feel free to have different opinion.

Why would I?

The moment I feel I have to spend money in any game to remain competitive, I will just stop playing and move along.

all decks are now playing nebula and jeff, the two best T1 and T2. it is clearly pay to win.
