Sera is overrated. If someone is stupid enough to pay $50 for her, I'm ok with that. Those people are keeping the game alive for f2p players. ;)
I have Sera and i rarely use her tbh. An overrated card.
No you don't.
Yes and no. You're buying a variant version of the card, but it's not the base card and doesn't remove that card from your Cache/Token Shop pool. You're basically paying $50 for a card you're going to eventually pull, anyways.
I'm not sure if we understand each other. A new player who is still opening series two can buy the bundle and start playing Sera right away. That's the very definition of p2w. Yes, they will still get the base variant sometime later from the collection caches, but these bundles are the first time a variant you buy in the shop is playable even if you don't own the base version of the card.
This, he's right its the definition of p2w. I finally unlocked Sera with tokens and there is a reason she is so thick in the meta.+
Only if Sera is one of the 2 bundles available, which wont be for much longer. So you want her after that you would have to pay to climb the ladder and hope you get lucky. Even the biggest whales can't get every card they wan't straight away.
Alright I'll bite, I'm very aware it's pretty pointless to argue with people calling everything under the sun pay to win but here goes.
I got Sera very early in pool off a cache, how has this person paid to win against me?
Once you unlock the token shop you are given 3k tokens and Sera costs 1k, if someone buys this with the free currency, how can someone pay to win against them?
I'm curious.
I'm aware that there are different views of what constitutes p2w. In most CCGs, all cards are available to ftp players, and putting money in the game accelerates your progression or lets you buy specific cards. In the case of SNAP, for a long time after release, you were not able to accelerate your progression much by baying gold, as the daily spending is limited. That, to me, is a good model, as it allows for a bit of (expensive) advantage, but ftp players who put time and effort into the game are able to keep up. However, selling specific cards directly, for money, is for me stepping into the p2w territory. True, for now it's not very much, a few cards with Sera being the worst offender, and two tokens bundles. Those tokens bundles are actually the worse offenders, as tokens are quite hard to come by from the collector's caches.
I look at it from the perspective of a new player, say just entering pool three. They can either wait for pot luck to unlock Sera, which can happen as late as CL2200, or they can buy the bundle and get her right away. On average, this gives advantage to players who spend money. Same with tokens. You can either be content with the tokens you get from the caches and as the one-time reward, or you can buy more in the shop to unlodk cards faster. Specific cards, as they roll into the shop. For most players not in beta, this is the only way to get series five cards. And then there's Silver Surfer and Zabu, available for money right away or in a year or two for f2p players.
You need to look at average cases for discussions like this, not to individual examples. A more important question would be, do Sera and Silver Surfer give a player competitive edge? Again, on average, I think they do.
To some people it is worth it, hence why people are buying it.
The game is free 2 play, it's paid for by the people who spend money on the game like buying the pack you mentioned. Do the devs work for free?
Bundles can suck a fk tho.
Pulling her from caches or buying her with tokens are literally the average cases.
You also can't just buy tokens to progress yourself faster outside of bundles, which you can also buy with free gold you earn, like I did. Yea you can't get everyone that comes but you only need a handful of cards to be able to climb ladder. You pay for variety, not to win.
How is bringing up the possibility of pulling her very late in progression a look at average cases?
Also those 2 cards can be beat regularly with f2p zoo and Dino, I'm very aware that negative surfer is considered a tier 1 deck, and when it pops you just literally win, but a Mr Negative deck also does that just fine when it pops off without surfer.
It's like Zabu right now, yea it unlocks the ability to play a greedy 4 cost deck, but is it auto win? Certainly not with how many I've beat so far.
Do you mean the varients that you buy with gold earned in game?
Nothing that costs real money is good value in ANY mobile game.
