MARVEL SNAP

MARVEL SNAP

People who retreat on turn 2 or before..
Its just lame, stop it. Sure you may have missed your favoured strategy or lost a key card, but there could still be an interesting game to play and you have no idea how your opponent is doing.

Even better build a better deck that can handle these things.

No.

Sometimes the locations are bad and I don't like my chances, so I'll cut my losses and grab another game. You can get another just as quick. Enjoy your cube.

Oh look it's another entitled little kid whining that "Other people's idea of fun is WRONG".... Jesus Christ grow the hell up and play your game the way you want to and stay the Fuq out of other people's business.

"How dare you use features implemented into games! If you don't play games my way then you are scum that deserves nothing more than my superior laughter." - You, probably

bad zones for deck + none of your core cards in hand + opponent plays strong cards for zones = retreat

I don't retreat, even with bad hand, unless the opponent snapped. Also if you snap turn 1/2 you're basically a jerk. Enjoy your 1 cube.

"can't play card here"
"you can't play the first card here"
"draw 10 cards and destroy both deck"

This guy: YOU DARE TO RETREAT???

Dealing with initially bad situations and ending with a win is one of the most satisfying parts of the games. The sauce is weak with early quitters.

you still get rank
it takes 2-5 seconds to get a match
the game is centered around card and location synergies

don't see a issue for someone leaving when they don't have what they built their deck around. and again, you still gain rank.

Perhaps there should be an alternative mode where you can define your card order. Then people who only play their perfect draw wont waste anyone else's time

A game of Snap is closer to a hand of poker than it is to a game of Magic or Hearthstone. You can't win them all, oftentimes you're doomed from the start, and success is less about winning every game, or even most of them, and more about maximizing cubes (money). Do you hate people who are dealt a terrible hand in poker and immediately fold?

I see both ends of it, honestly. On one hand, Rank is the closest thing you can get to "winning" in this game currently. Cube management and minimizing losses when hit with bad RNG is a huge part of that. On the other hand, wins through Retreat just feel meh. Sentimentally, I feel the same as you, but it isn't really a viable strategy in the current game modes. Retreat will probably be pretty uncommon in the upcoming Unranked mode, because what would be the point of not playing it out?

To liken it to poker, its like folding pre flop when you have already paid the ante. It costs nothing more to see a few more cards and even though you started badly it could still end in a win.

Obviously if someone snaps pre-turn 2 then a retreat would be much more understandable.

If I see a location appear that that favors an enemy deck while hindering mine, damn right I'll retreat.

Things like +5 energy this turn and player plays Infinaut on turn 1 while I draw no independent cards.
1 power squirrels, rocks in deck or vibranium off the bat vs. a patriot deck.
Destroy both decks and other player is using destroy cards - likely with death now 0-cost.
Play random card here and other player gets a powerful 6-cost to my 1-cost.
Ego or random draw Harkness because they have absolutely no idea how to use my decks and play single 2-point cards on turn 4 or 5 while playing weak cards out of synergy. I've never seen them play a single logical turn with my decks.

Seriously, like Agatha just randomly went in my deck and played human torch on turn 3 even though I have no movement cards in the deck. They're straight up troll cards.

Things like that, I'm just not going to waste my time for what will likely only be a measly 1/2 cube win with a turnaround. Already wasted enough time joining the match to begin with and I'll usually only play in 5-10 minute sessions.
