What's with the 120 FPS console esque marketing?

Pretty sure nightdive have played a PC game or two before.. And no one working at night dive studio played PC version of this game on a monitor that runs at 120hz.. Modern PC monitors run at 60/144/160/165/240/300/360/500 and sometimes various rates between 144 and 500hz.

No one owns a 120 hz monitor nor wants to play this game at 120FPS. We want to play it at our native refresh rates.. And guess what? it's kex engine, so yea it supports them.

And no, in the modern era trying to downclock your 144HZ monitor to a custom 120hz mode is not recommended, often breaks features such as VRR/GSync/Freesync/HDR or other effects you may not be aware of.

So yea stop being dumb with marketing, advertise pc games capable of 144FPS as 144FPS.

Yes we know game is also on xbox and ps5 are played on Television's, and yes TVs running at 120hz are common. We don't play PC games on TVs.. So go market those versions run at 120hz (if they do...).. Not a pc game.

(Could be worse, and they actually lock the game to 120 FPS like some publishers such as SQEX)

You'll find exactly 1 of the hundreds of monitors listed run at 120hz.. And its more like a TV masquerading as a monitor (It's 49 inches and $1200).

At the very least, change the bad marketing to 120+ FPS, not 120FPS.

They probably just used the same marketing text for PC and consoles (except Switch, probably). Just a lazy mistake. The game does support higher frame and refresh rates.

Incidentally, I run my 144hz screen at 120hz because so many older games (and some newer ones) have issues with frame rates that aren't a multiple of 60.

They don't use the same text. Xbox page mentions 60 FPS. Playstation page has no mention of FPS. So if those version do support 120 FPS, bad marketing there too.

Not at all nit picking. The useless posts are most of the replies. Drunk or not, I wrote an excellent post which may have a positive outcome. You guys are trolling.

Basic logic:
Some games advertise "Up to 120FPS".. They are indeed HARD CAPPED at that. Example: Final fantasy 7 remake. This is BAD.
This game advertises UP TO 120FPS. (Not 120+).. It is NOT hard capped. Traditionally the kex engine has worked fine up to 500 FPS , past that it can exhibit some glitches.

False advertising is not only annoying and can cost night dive sales . It's illegal too in many states/countries. (Not that advertising your product worse than it actually is, is gonna get them in any trouble)

2 possible outcomes:
A) Marketing guy who does the steam pages for night dive reads this and either adjusts it or at least doesn't put the wrong info on the next game page he writes. He can instead write "Supports 4K/144 FPS and Uncapped Frame Rates"
B) He doesn't read it, or does and doesn't care he wrote the wrong thing.

The amount of nitpicking on such a relative obscure studio that is doing amazing work, is utterly astounding. Go and try to take down EA for ruining another game with loot boxes. But no, we have to try to point out that the game is false advertising because it is too good and supports resolutions over 120 and doesn't specifically say it can go higher when it's obvious it can, and meanwhile on the 64 version you get 15 fps. The amount of useless hate this game gets is astounding.

Btw, the game didn't SPECIFICALLY SAY that it supports 1920x1080, so, boycott it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111oneoneoneone

The game does not specifically say that you can re-bind the movement keys from WASD to something else. I -did- it, but they didn't specifically say that you could. So... BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The one with the poor argument is you. Thousands of people are buying and enjoying this game, and there is nothing you can do about it. Including myself who happily played it at 165 hz, more than 120, without questioning some obscure useless marketing snippet. The goal of nitpicking to this extreme is because you don't want people to have fun.

mm so bad arguments that make no sense and now having hallucinations now? No one said anything about the games quality at all bro.. Other than to praise it does support uncapped FPS.

Personally also gonna buy it, even at full price. I buy all night dives remasters, even ones i won't play just to support them.

Kaiser is the man and made an insanely awesome engine and never once disappointed by putting in arbitrary FPS caps that don't make any sense.
