How scary is this?
I have a lot of anxiety about jump scares and horror games in general...but I love the idea of playing them. I was able to play Signalis. Is this comparable?

While I haven't finished it yet, so far there's not any intentional jump scares (aside from being surprised by enemies you weren't expecting). There's also an exploration mode which completely prevents enemies from ever showing up. Overall crow country is a bit less scary than Signalis, and also generally easier (both in terms of combat and puzzles) with a hard mode coming sometime in the future.

There's a couple of things that can catch you off guard but nothing too terrible. The atmosphere is what can get a little eerie sometimes but the overall tone of the game is quite mild compared to more recognizable Survival Horror games. I would say this lies on a more ''slightly disturbing'' side, a tad interesting and alluring with a bit of a scary tone, but nothing really fear inducing tbh. Its a fun and interesting game more than scary to me.

I avoid any game with jumpscares, and I usually watch it on youtube without voice (because I wanna see the lore).

This one have some bump, but you can do that for sure. There are not high screams and stuff like that.

The only jumpscares in there are expected like the Dracula toy which wakes up once you interact with it, or the fake cages with fake ghosts which will play a stock sound scream once you press their button, both in the "haunted" area and are obviously parodies of the kind of people would put in front of their houses during Halloween.

The closest thing to actual jumpscares the game has is that the first time you enter an area you could find vents or massive wooden boxes which will tell you something is inside when inspected. Which of course means that an enemy is going to come out of it the next time you enter the room just like classic Resident Evil games used to. But are they really jumpscares if the game tells you it will happen?

Late reply but having beaten the game, there's some bits that'll definitely startle you, but there's no screen filling in-your-face ear-screeching jumpscares. Don't expect something like FNAF from this game. Often times the horror's more subtle, and the atmosphere is what actually gets to you.

It's like a teletubbies show with a horror filter on it.

Doesn't help that the game has a climate change message and is constantly giving remarks about taking care of our environment for a better future lol
