I am stuck in the main menu. Arrow keys and Enter don't seem to do anything.

1. Do you control the character first person maze style (eg right, up = face to the right then walk forward) or top down view style? I assumed it was the former but got confused when I bumped into a wall just by pressing left/right 2. When you stop hearing your footsteps while walking, do you assume there's a wall in front of you (even if the character never says it, "ouch" "wall")?...
