What you are looking is Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 2 is totally different from FC3

I always went with the narrative that they had been poached out of the area, or driven out by the continuous war that is waged.

"This is why..." yeah sure. I thought it was because they just couldn't come up with a good excuse but hey! This might be it right? ._. I like this game its just that seeing most of the other typical animals of that ecosystem and not predators its just a big inmersion breaker for me :/

I would ask just for: Lions, hienas, hippos and crocodiles... and since there are monkey sounds everywhere... monkeys... Anybody knows how to mod this game? I want to do it!! There was a project regarding this matter on mod DB but it died

The thing is, the audio is much better in far cry 2 than 3. The crew had much of material recorded from their africa trip and thanks to it, you hear so much animals but you actually see not enough of them. In contrast, in far cry 3 you constantly hear dogs barking, even if there aren,t any around but have many animals to hunt(even murenas or tasmanian dogs).
