It seems only those of us who just bought the game on sale have this invalid CD key issue, so this is the most likely issue.
I recommend copying your CD key to notepad, save it as:
FC2_Key_Invalid.txt
Save it somewhere you can remember (I suggest the desktop to remind you).
Every now and then, compare the key to your current Steam key.
When it changes to one that's different from the invalid key you wrote down, try launching the game again.
I recommend if this isn't resolved within a month, contact Steam.
In the mean time, launch the game directly via FarCry2.exe in the install folder.
At least you can play the game that way, but not online, nor will you have access to the Steam stuff like achievements and screenshots.
Only Multiplayer and activating Bonus Missions should be affected.
Everything else should work fine.
1. Log in Uplay through additional content in game( i think nobody has this problem)
2. Then use this guide. It helped to open missions: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=343830662
But, at first, log In then change Dunia.dll !
Edit:
I launched it another 4 times in a row, 5 total, with no crashes. I think it's fixed!
Edit 2:
The CD key has not changed, so it would seem Steam assigned keys which were not yet approved by Ubisoft, but were in a que for approval. That's my guess.
Edit 3:
The key still won't work for going online. It doesn't even give me the option to sign-in with my existing account I had on the 360 version. :(
At least the game starts with Steam features now.
I contacted Ubisoft's Support, and they told me my key didn't show up in their database, and that I should contact Steam Support to get a new one.
