One might be waiting in a safe house ready to help you in an emergency, others will contact you when you go on a mission asking you to meet them, and on at least one occasion just by taking a different route to where I was heading I came across others who had been wounded and would have died if I hadn't helped them.
Having notched up approaching 1000 hours playing FC2 there's never been a time when all buddies were in the Bar at the same time, the closest being when they're under attack and call on you for assistance.
Remember, they're all in the same business that you are and it would detract from the realism if they all used the Bar as some kind of 'Mercenaries Club'.
And you're not likely to meet all buddies without a little imagination. It took me a while to realise that one was being held prisoner in the camp just before you reach the Bar. There was nothing to indicate this but just by taking a look there he/she was.
See, I love Far Cry 2. It's one of my favourite games of all time, even though my play hours may not seem like it. In any case, I love it mainly because of the gunplay.
Recently, I decided that Far Cry 2 was the type of game that I could just load up, go to a few bases, maybe do a few missions, and just have fun with it every now and then. So I'm trying to set up my game into a perfect position where I have access to all the weapons I want, as well as missions, so that whenever I want to, I can just select a few weapons I want, and have fun, all from one convenient save file.
I realised that to do this, I would need to do a few certain things.
A. Collect all diamonds from zone one.
B. Do all the convoy missions.
C. Do all the buddy missions, so I get the maximum amount of rep possible and all my safe houses in zone one are at their maximum benefial standing.
D. Complete the main missions in zone 1.
E. Start zone 2 and collect all the diamonds there.
F. Buy the weapons I want, and then save the game.
G. Now, whenever I feel like FC2, I can just start up the game, and I have all the weapons I want, as well as all the missions of Act 2 to play with.
However, I'm stuck on C. If I don't do all the buddy missions before they all... you know what... at the end of act 1, then my safehouses will all be undersupplied and I won't be able to change that after starting act 2. Seeing as I won't have the maximum amount of rep possible, with no way of being able to do all the buddy missions I missed.
At least, that's how I think the reputation/history system works. The way I understand it is, I need to do buddy missions to gain rep, which in turn makes my safe houses better supplied. For the best result, I would need to do ALL the buddy missions, as well as all the side buddy missions during main missions.
I also realised that I need to do missions in between the buddy missions for another buddy mission to appear, so I may need to start all over and do the buddy missions first instead of the convoy missions. It's a really weird system. Who designed it like that? So, what, if I beat act 1 and didn't know about what happens to the buddies, then that would mean that I literally lost my chance to supply all my act 1 safe houses with the maximum amount of stuff unless I restarted the whole game?
It's all rather confusing, and I realise I'm making it like that, but I'd like to set up the game this way. I want to be able to have all the diamonds possible, while also leaving the most amount of missions open for me, all at the start of act 2. This mean assassinations are something I don't want to even touch in act one.
So yeah, I'm just trying to find a way to do ALL the buddy missions before act 2 starts, and I know for a fact each buddy has 2 missions to do. But if only 4 show up at Mikes bar, I can't do them all.
If it isn't obvious, it's an egg, in space.
In the beginning... ;)
Sorry, but I've never played TF2
Also, there is a bug with Michele that sometimes she doesnt spawn at the bar until you are ready to do the mission at the falls. Just make sure you do her missions before going to the falls, otherwise you wont be able to.
