Mission Completion

Relatively early game. 8% complete. 4/32 main missions, 1/12 buddy missions, 12/40 side missions. I have done all the available side missions. Left with choice of Buddy mission from Mike's Bar or APR/UFFLL. Take the buddy mission and kill a guy that sold a bas car.
Next I go into town and get told to release a hostage from slaughterhouse. I go there, clear the place and open the door for her. Then I he3ad back to town only to find out that the objective is the same and they won't talk to me. I go back and she is just standing there. Sometimes when I restart it she is gone but the mission objective never updates (although stats now show 5/32 main missions).
Tried it going to the UFFLL first. There I release a hostage from the ♥♥♥♥ Fight area and she says she will meet me at Mike's. Mission objective never updates but I go to Mike's and she is there. Can't talk with her, but she has clearly been freed.
No other missions available so I can't bypass one of these. What do I need to do to complete releasing the hostages?? Otherwise I am stuck.

In the northern map there are 6 buddies available to help you. 2 of them are being held captive. When I complete the tutorial, i usually head to those location to free the buddies. If you dont do that you will be given the objective by one of the factions to do so.....and those objectives dont count towards you overall mission count. There is 1 more buddy somewhere on the map that you save and he becomes your friend available at Mike's Bar....but you have to find him.

here's how to tell where you need to go. If the tutorial takes place at Fish or the Lumber Yard, then the 2 buddies are held captive at the slaughterhouse and c0ck fight areans. And if the tutorial takes place at slaughterhouse and Arena, then they are held captive at Fish and Lumber. I think they have you do this because you get access to more missions.

Also, it says in stats that there are 40 side missions, but if you do all of them there are actually 42...........11 buddies = 22, 8 weapon convoy, 12 assassination = 42.

Great answer Karma. From what I have done that is exactly accurate. The problem I am having is that after freeing the buddy from the cockfight area, and I have seen her back at Mike's bar, I don't have any available mission locations, whether it be from a gun shop, a radio tower, Mike's or the APR/UFFLL. The objective still just reads free the hostage from CF area.

I really appreciate the answer. I am sure I am just overlooking something but don't know what it would be or what I can do to get the rescue to complete.

hmmm....sounds like a small bug then. If you've actually freed the hostage from the srena and it's still listing it as a current objective, then, yes, it's a bug.

If you haven't already, go to the slaughterhouse and free the other hostage. When you free that one it will say "mission completed" there as well and that might free up the bug. if not, then you might have to resort to an old save...sorry,
