How to listen to a voicemail?

I was in a fight and my phone rang. After I could answer the phone it went to a voicemail. I don't see anything in the options that shows me how to retrieve it. Anyone that can help?

i think it just updates your mission breifing / objectives or try "playback recording" default numpad 8

There should be a cell phone icon near the bottom of the screen that you can click on to retrieve messages.

It's not updating my missions. Right now when i hit Playing recordings by hit 8... it says "RECORDING PLAYBACK" in the top left and everything is in some type of fast forward mode. There is no voicemail that pops though. When I run, it's like I'm traveling super fast as well in that mode, then when I stop my guy passes out.

There is no cell phone icon anywhere. Not sure where you are seeing that. Main screen, options screen, when my map up.... none of those.

After missing a call, you will see the cell phone icon to the bottom right of the game screen, next to ammo counter.

Are you playing on a touch screen?

If you press 5 the map button, you will automatically check any messages you have. This game was way behind and did not have options. A lot of things in this game were just very counter intuitive. Massively improved in sequels.
