It doesn't help to complain here, Ubi is the only one who could do anything about it.
They've got a 'complaint' department -> Tell them. - They don't pay any attention to
this forum.
Yeah but that's not very realistic or immersive.
At least you have FC3 and beyond to enjoy. - I have trouble enjoying the later
games and you have trouble enjoying FC2 as much as the later ones. Some
things bug me more than they bother you and vice versa. - We can disagree
and both be 'right' according to our preferences and perspective. One is more
'realistic' to you and the other more 'realistic' to me. It's not a 'judgement' call.
That doesn't fully explain why FC2 is so unrealistic with the voice acting. Just not very immersive to me.
Oddly to me they never sounded too fast, but I grew up with fast talkers.
Acting is a whole other ball of wax. Much of it depends on the language and direction
and there were likely different actors and directors for each.
Again - Not realistic enough to you but realistic enough for others to enjoy the game
and maybe some who don't take the subject too seriously.
Yeah, but that's still unrealistic and not immersive.
No. There are thousands of people who still complain about this, even people still picking up the game. Not to mention the thousands who complained the first time, which is why everything was changed. So much for your "to you" theory.
ever meet some african people in real life?
they tend to speak fast.
even remember an actor for the game said they were directed to speak that way to enforce the stress and urgency of the situation.
that said, nobody cares, you can nitpick all day about any games if you want, there is always gonna be something someone doesn´t like.
I prefer the chars and story in FC2 to any of the cartoon chars of later games.
Yeah, this was a known problem ever since first release. My theory is that the game initially shipped on a DVD, and they had to compress the voice files in order to get them to fit or something.
As far as I know, they've never fixed this problem. Maybe someday there may be a remaster, a bit like FC1 got a remaster on consoles.
It was not a technical but rather a creative decision made by the voice director and/or the creative director in charge.
Oh, that's a bit disappointing then. Do you happen to have a source for that?
"Waah, this almost 20 year old game's voice acting isn't immersive!"
Begone, child
I don't have a source for that but usually the compression alters the audio quality, not speed the audio up. I've tried to slow them down and they don't sound right so my conclusion is that it was intentional.
It seems unlikely that they knew the total size of all voice localization beforehand and instructed the actors to speed up their voice lines because of that.
a greater sense of urgency.
